Essential Job Functions
NOVUS is seeking a senior database administrator to work with our premier client in Denver, working with a team to manage Oracle databases, including installation and configuration, consulting with development teams, performance optimization, scaling, and database and replication architectures.

This position is focused on managing databases in both the client's data center as well as within the Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based cloud infrastructure, and includes databases running directly on EC2, as well as RDS and Elasticache instances. A working knowledge of EC2, RDS, and Elasticache is desirable, including a basic understanding of security groups, AMIs, and the AWS console.

Automation of the infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code) is a goal to become more efficient and repeatable, so experience with a scripting language, the AWS SDK, Ansible, Hashicorp Terraform, Hashicorp Packer, and the Python language are all desirable.

Additional Job Details
• Installs, maintains, and manages a significant number of database servers on Oracle, as well as on Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, and Memcached, though Oracle is the focus for this position.
• Provides client support and assistance with day-to-day issues.
• Consults with development and test teams around best practices for storage efficiency and performance.
• Provides support for performance test teams and production operations to solve database-related performance and operational problems.
• Works with a small DBA team with other senior DBAs and collaborates with internal AWS support teams.

Job Requirements
· Expert knowledge in Oracle administration and troubleshooting.
· Proven ability to work well with internal clients, including development, operations, and QA teams.
· Expert skills in database performance and query monitoring and optimization.
· Solid working knowledge of AWS EC2, RDS, and Elasticache.

Beneficial Qualifications
· Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, and Memcached administration.
· Deployment automation experience
· Basic shell scripting, or Python programming
· Basic use of Ansible, Hashicorp Terraform and/or Packer tools
· Application development experience
· Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Sensu, AppDynamics, Instana, or other monitoring tool
· Advanced system administration skills
