EV Charging Basics -

The Three "Levels" of Charging
EV charging is categorized into three tiers. The rule of thumb here is simple: the higher the level, the higher the voltage, and the faster your car recharges.

Charging Tier - Level 1
Power Source - Standard 120V household outlet
Average Range Added - ~3–5 miles per hour
Ideal Scenario - Overnight home charging for short daily commutes.

"Trickle" Charging > This uses the standard wall outlet you use to plug in your toaster or phone. Most EVs come with a portable Level 1 cable kit. The Good: It requires zero electrical work or extra expense. The Bad: It is incredibly slow. If you drive less than 30–40 miles a day and can plug the car in for 10–12 hours every single night, this might actually be all you need. If you have a longer commute, you'll fall behind.

Power Source - High-voltage direct current grid
Average Range Added - ~100–300+ miles per 30 mins
Ideal Scenario - Highway road trips and rapid emergency top-offs.
