Detective Corporal Christopher Mock suffered a fatal heart attack after responding to multiple investigations.

On October 3, 2025, Detective Mock was called to the scene of a homicide. During the investigation, they called the bomb disposal team after finding an article that looked like an explosive device. Immediately after leaving the scene, he was called out to investigate a su***de.

The next day, when Detective Mock suffered a heart attack, life-saving measures were performed, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he stayed until he passed away on October 15, 2025.

Detective Mock had served with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for 21 years, assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He is survived by his wife and two children.

He was posthumously promoted to Detective Corporal.

Point 27 is sending Thin Blue Line Dog Tags engraved with Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemaker for they will be called children of God" for Detective Mock’s fellow officers, and Folded Flag necklaces engraved with John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for one's friend" for his family.

I pray for God’s mercy, comfort, and strength for Detective Mock’s family.

Point 27's mission is to strengthen and encourage members of the Armed Forces, First Responders, and their family members with God's Word.

One of our goals is to give a Shields of Strength Thin Blue Line Dog Tag Necklace to each USA law enforcement officer.

The purpose of the dog tag is twofold. First, it is a tangible way to thank the officers for their service and sacrifice. Second, it is a physical reminder, we are never alone. God is with us always.

It is with profound sadness that Spartanburg Police Department share that MPO Javan King, Jr., (Retiree) passed earlier this morning.

Javan began his service with the City of Spartanburg as a Public Safety Officer in November of 1984 and retired in August of 2024.

In 1988 MPO King became a Crime Prevention Officer increasing his community engagement. In 1990 Javan was promoted to patrol sergeant. In 1993 MPO King went to Investigations and then in 1994 went back to Crime Prevention where he was a school resource Officer for Dorman High School. At the time, Dorman was in the city limits at what is now Dorman Center Drive and W.O. Ezell Boulevard. When the High School moved to Roebuck, Javan was so highly thought of, they requested him to continue being an SRO at Dorman. He remained in that role until his retirement.

Javan touched many lives and leaves a legacy of kindness, joy, love, and fairness.

We extend our deepest condolences to Javan’s family and all who loved him.
