Last night, at the 2019 GHS Wrestling Banquet, we announced the winner of our 4th annual wrestling scholarship. We started this scholarship as a way to provide financial assistance to Guilford High School wrestlers interested in attending off-season wrestling programs. The principle of hard work is important both in wrestling and at American Carting Company. It’s the foundation of all we do, and it is our mission to further promote and enhance this in the youth of our community. This year’s winner is Chris Murphy. Chris plans to practice with a local wrestling club during the spring. Congratulations, Chris!

Last week, American Carting Company’s Residential Driver, Dexter Morrow, had the patriotic idea to help those impacted by the ongoing government shutdown. He offered to pick up the trash, at no cost, for any affected government employees who live in Guilford or Madison until the government is back in business. We support this kind of thoughtful, neighborly initiative by our employees and want to extend the offer to our existing customers as well. For any of our current customers who are not being paid as a result of the government being closed, we're offering to waive all service fees for the entire shutdown period. Accordingly, we were honored to support local Boy Scout Troop 474 this summer with their Strawberry Social Fundraiser. Thank you to the Scouts for this thoughtful plaque. We appreciate it, and we wish you all continued success in this important homegrown program.

Breast cancer awareness and research are goals we support through our Pink Toter Program, direct donations and, most recently, at the "Puttin' On the Pink" event hosted at 66 High St. in Guilford.
