One of the most common DMs we get is "Will this inverter handle my AC?"
Quick answer most of the time. Yes, but you have to size for the starting surge, not the running watts.
A typical 3-ton AC runs at about 3,500 watts. The moment it kicks on, it pulls 2 to 3 times that for a second or two. A 3,500-watt inverter will trip every time the compressor cycles.
Real rule of thumb. Take your AC's running watts and double it. That's the minimum inverter size you need.
3-ton AC means at least a 7,000-watt inverter. Comfortably 9,000 or 12,000 if you also want lights and a fridge running.
