Gulf Blue® Navigator’s 2027 Cohort 5 is looking for later-stage, scaling startups developing technology for the surf zone and other complex near-shore environments.

Sponsored in part by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the cohort is interested in uncrewed vessels, autonomous launch and recovery systems, sensors, navigation and obstacle avoidance, coastal data, seafloor and hazard detection, pier and port inspection, and more. 🚤📡

🐟 Marine aquaculture is an important part of the Gulf Coast’s Blue Economy, and industry input is essential to its continued growth.

A recent workshop supporting the Marine Aquaculture Demonstration Initiative (MADI) brought stakeholders together with USM’s Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center (TCMAC) to identify shared challenges and priorities for research, innovation, and workforce development.

Human-centered design support for the effort was provided through USM’s Office of Innovation Management and its NSF ART-funded r2i Accelerate program.

The insights gathered will help shape MADI’s priorities and guide its next steps.

A full room for our September Gulf Blue® Networking event! 🌊 It was a great evening of conversation, new connections and learning more about the work happening across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We also enjoyed seeing USM students take part and connect with others in the room.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of a new five-year partnership between Gulf Blue and Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC). Thank you to Sidney Dills for sharing more about the partnership and the opportunities it will support.
