Celebrating Juneteenth is in direct alignment with our aims here at Gumba Magee!

While Juneteenth is the newest federal holiday, it has been celebrated in different areas around the country for over 150 years.

It marks the complete end of chattel slavery across all the states. Texas was the last state to free enslaved Black people even though the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed into law 2 years prior.

Use this opportunity to speak with your littles about this historic day!
