All a mouse needs to get into your house is a gap the size of a penny.

We found one in a customer's basement, along an exterior wall, so the next job is working out how it got in. Around a house that usually means the AC lines, the electrical lines, or anything else that runs through the siding. If a pencil fits in the hole, a mouse can use it.

Copper mesh and spray foam close it up, and which one we reach for depends on how big the gap is.

As our tech puts it: once they have a mile, they'll turn it into a marathon.

Yellow jackets in a tree stump, start to finish.

A nest this close to the house is the kind of call we get all summer. The treatment is 99 percent talc powder and 1 percent insecticide, dusted straight into the entry point, and the suit goes on either way.

And no, these are not honeybees. They are yellow jackets, and they kill honeybees.

Buying a new home in northern New Jersey?

Before you sign the papers, get a thorough pest and termite inspection. Hidden infestations can turn a dream home into a nightmare of unexpected expenses, and you do not want to inherit someone else's bug problem.

Three hundred Google reviews. We had to tell the office.

Every one of those reviews came from a family in Morris, Sussex, Warren or Hunterdon county who had a problem, called us, and told us we handled it right. That is the only reason this number exists.

Thank you to the Hennebry team for the work behind every review, and to the clients who took a minute to leave one. It genuinely means a lot.

That wet spot on the kitchen ceiling? It was not a leak.

Yellowjackets were entering under the vinyl siding at the rear of the home and building a nest above the sheetrock. Their secretions make the ceiling look damp, so a lot of homeowners assume they have a plumbing problem. Hennebry treated the area with dust and liquid. Because yellowjackets are social insects, they carry the product back into the colony and wipe it out over time. Once activity stops, the nest comes out by hand or with a shop vac, a little product is left for any stragglers, the walls get wiped down, and the sheetrock is taped until it can be replaced.

If you are seeing wasps around your siding or a mystery stain on a ceiling, call Hennebry Pest Solutions today.

Ever notice wasps get way more aggressive in late summer?

There is a real reason for it. Through spring and early summer, worker yellowjackets feed on sugary secretions that come straight from their own larvae. By late summer the queen slows down and that food source dries up, so the workers go hunting for sugar in your ripe fruit, soda, trash cans and outdoor dining areas. Combine that with colonies now several thousand strong and late summer sting incidents climb fast.

If they are turning up around your home, a late summer inspection finds the colony before it finds you. Hennebry Pest Solutions covers Long Valley and the surrounding area.

Most of the job happens in the places you never look.

A service visit is not one spray at the front door. It is the foundation line in the basement, the stairwell where moisture collects, the barn no one has opened in months, and the porch roof where a paper nest is already the size of your palm.

That is what the 365 Plan covers. Three scheduled treatments every year, comprehensive coverage against all general pests, with termite inspections and treatment options available.

Wasps, ants, or something you cannot identify? Call Hennebry Pest Solutions.

Most pest control mistakes happen before the spray ever comes out.

In August and September yellow jackets get way more aggressive. Colony sizes are at their peak and sting risk climbs right along with them. The difference between a brand new technician and someone who really knows their stuff is not how they apply treatment. It is how they inspect before the treatment even starts.

Stand back and watch the flight paths first. Then check five key spots. Roof and eaves, trees and shrubs, ground voids, wall voids, and any high traffic food source like a dumpster.

Treating what you can see without ever finding the colony is one of the most common mistakes in the field. Always inspect multiple elevations, confirm the species, and locate the nest before you pull out the spray.
