Fall prep is just about over. As of today:
1. Frame feeders all removed.
2. All hives closed up until Spring.
3. OAV treatments will continue for another couple weeks. Thought I was about done, but a lot of pollen still coming in. Will treat until the internal temp gauges fall below the 90s. I take NO prisoners!
4. Top insulation over the inner covers, probably the early November timeframe.
5. A record (my record) 14 hives headed into Winter.

Walked out into the bee yard this evening. The very strong aroma is unmistakable.

Buy local or eat syrup - your choice.

Honey fraud is completely off the scale.

We're not talking about a tiny splash of syrup. Bernhard's investigation found jars sold as honey containing 30% to 90% syrup. Some had only 10% honey left.

He went undercover inside the factories making it. The scale is bloody frightening, and real beekeepers are being pushed out by a product they can never compete with.

Would you still buy a jar if you couldn't trace it back to the beekeeper?

The Spotted Lanternfly (invasive) has been spotted on my property (just East of Hamilton) They were all over each of the Tree-of-Heaven's (also invasive). Tried to kill them. I was 0-8. They are super fast!
