Unfortunately, there is no route that will make everyone happy, and I think all of us would rather not have a project of this size come through our counties at all. But if it is going to be built, we have an opportunity to make our voices heard and encourage I&M to select the route that is least invasive overall — affecting the fewest homes and communities while minimizing impacts on our lakes, natural resources, farms, and other sensitive areas. Wherever the final route goes, it will affect real people and properties, and I think it is important that we recognize that as we make our concerns known.

4. Scroll down to the Project Outreach Rep. Delia Makhetha and fill out the form. In the comments section please reference your environmental concerns along with your other concerns. Please recommend removing the lines/segments #13,14,20,23 and recommend (if you want to) moving it to the IN/OH state line or the 69 corridor.
FYI: Fish Creek is home to 4 federally endangered mussel species (Rayed Bean, Clubshell, White Cat’s Paw & Snuffbox). We also have several Bald Eagle nests that are federally protected as well. The Douglass Woods Nature Preserve is over 1600 acres of conservation area of wetlands, trails and forest and is home to the rare Blanding’s Turtle.
