This information can be extremely beneficial to first responders during severe weather emergencies.

⛈️ Project Highlight: Weather Radio Distribution 📻

Thanks to the support of our legislators and Northwest RC&D grant funding, the Marion County Commission was able to purchase and distribute weather radios to households across the county to help keep residents safe and informed during severe weather events.

With many of the county’s sirens being outdated, these radios provide a much-needed upgrade by delivering accurate, real-time weather alerts directly to citizens—ensuring that every home has access to critical information, even during power outages or nighttime storms.

This proactive step is a major improvement in community preparedness and reflects the county’s commitment to protecting its residents.

Important Public Safety Message Regarding NOAA Weather Radio Outage:

Please be aware that the National Weather Service is currently updating its software. Due to this essential maintenance, all ten weather transmitters that control NOAA weather radios in our area will be offline during the weather event expected Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night.
This means that your NOAA weather radio may not receive alerts during this time.
It is crucial to have alternative methods for receiving weather information during this period. We strongly encourage you to utilize the Marion County Public Safety App as a reliable resource for weather alerts.
For any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 205-921-4555 or reach out to your local fire department.
Stay safe and prepared.
