IPSC was founded in 1977 by Mark Leto, Sr. At only 20 years of age, and along with the help of just three other security guards under his employ, Mark began providing consistent and reliable service right from the very beginning. From 1977 to 1983, equipped with the attitude that the customer is always right, Mark built the company from 3 security officers to 50. During the early years of IPSC, Ma
rk worked as a security guard along with the people that he employed. He would go on to wear many hats throughout IPSC’s infancy ranging from operations manager to human resources director to payroll clerk. The initial vision of IPSC was to provide security service within the Parish of Tangipahoa where the company was and still is headquartered in the city of Hammond, Louisiana. However, in 1983, as the security industry began to demand electronic security protection, Mark started an alarm installation and monitoring division. IPSC grew rapidly in the years following, and the focus of the business soon began to shift beyond the parish and into other areas of the state. In the 1990’s, IPSC moved into the major metropolitan markets of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and eventually the company was able to establish a footprint throughout much of the State of Louisiana. The 2000’s saw the company venture into Mississippi as well as the arena of federal contract security. In 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, IPSC was awarded a contract with FEMA in order to assist with the recovery effort. The company experienced rapid growth in the years immediately following Hurricane Katrina with the number of employees more than doubling from less than 500 to over 1000. This current decade has seen the company experience continued growth as IPSC has established operations in Alabama and Florida. All the while, the company has strengthened and solidified its operations in Louisiana and Mississippi. It should be noted that while Mark Leto was busy making strides with IPSC in the early days of the business, he was also busy at home raising six children along with his wife, M***a. Over the years, as the children grew, they filtered into the family business working after school and over the summer throughout high school and college. Some of them transitioned into permanent positions after college, while others left to pursue different career paths, some of which led back to IPSC. Today, armed with the same convictions as their father, and still under his guidance, the next generation of leadership has dedicated itself to carry on IPSC’s promise to its clients as well as the company’s overall commitment to consistency and reliability.
