This is what’s left behind at the station when a fire call comes in. Work boots from leaving their job. Lounge shoes from leaving their family at home. The people whose shoes are left behind aren’t just firefighters. They are husbands, wives, dads, moms, brothers, sisters, friends and neighbors. The people who drop everything when the pager goes off. The people who sacrifice their family time, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, sleep and many other hours, to be there for complete strangers when they need us most. In the fire service, our number one goal is life safety. That includes our lives too. At the end of the call, these shoes need to be filled again. Help us help you by having and practicing your emergency evacuation plan, slowing down and paying attention when going through accidents scenes, testing your smoke alarms and following fire prevention tips. With your help, we can fill these shoes at the end of every call.

OUTDATED POST

🔥EXTREME FIRE DANGER TUESDAY🔥
Most of the state will face an elevated fire danger Tuesday and a Red Flag Warning will be in effect. This means that very warm temperatures, strong SW winds 20-25, gusting up to 40+ mph and low humidity levels will sharply elevate the fire risk. In fact, any fire that does start will quickly spread. The area on the map shaded in purple is especially at risk. In fact, the NWS categorized this area as a “Particularly Dangerous Situation”.

02/16/2026

- Due to a fairly concerning combination of expected low relative humidity (10-25%) and west-southwest winds (gusting 30-45 MPH), our entire forecast area is under a Fire Weather Watch from 12-8 PM Tuesday.

- Assuming there are no major changes in the forecast over the next 24-36 hours, it is likely that most (perhaps all) of this Watch will eventually be "upgraded" to a Warning.

- USE EXTREME CAUTION IF ENGAGING IN ACTIVITIES THAT MIGHT SPARK A WILDFIRE !
