Whether responding to emergencies, teaching life’s lessons, or simply being present for their families, fathers make a lasting impact both on and off the job. We recognize the sacrifices made by the men who answer the call while also answering one of life’s greatest callings, being a dad.

Hampton County Fire Rescue is proud to announce that we have officially received the 2025 Fire Safe Community Designation.

Fire Marshal Denise Nix and Battalion Chief Rushing proudly accepted this recognition on behalf of Hampton County Fire Rescue. This designation acknowledges the hard work and dedication put forth to reduce risk, promote fire safety, and better protect the citizens we serve.

This achievement would not have been possible without the teamwork, commitment, and professionalism of all of our firefighters and first responders. Their continued efforts make a difference in our community each and every day.

We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to serving, educating, and protecting the people of Hampton County.

Congratulations to everyone who played a role in making this accomplishment possible!

For the second year in a row, Hampton County Fire/Rescue’s Community Risk Reduction Team had the honor of visiting Camp Wildwood and spending the day with some incredible kids!

Campers got hands-on experience with firefighter helmets, hose carries, confined space awareness, CPR, and even explored one of our fire trucks. Educating children about fire safety and emergency preparedness is an important part of keeping our community safe and inspiring future generations.

A special thank you to CRR Team members CJ and Desmond, along with Battalion Chief Tyrone Corbin, for making this visit possible and bringing the fire truck for everyone to enjoy.

Today, we pause to recognize International Firefighters’ Day and the brave men and women who answer the call without hesitation.

Firefighters represent strength, courage, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Whether it is responding to structure fires, motor vehicle collisions, medical emergencies, or standing ready in times of uncertainty, they show up, every single time.

Here in Hampton County, we are especially grateful for our dedicated career and volunteer firefighters who continue to protect our homes, our families, and our community. Their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Behind every call is a team willing to run toward danger when others are running away. That kind of courage cannot be taught, it comes from the heart.

SCFC to lift burning ban for all counties Friday: Officials urge vigilance while burning outdoors as drought conditions persist

COLUMBIA—The South Carolina Forestry Commission will lift the State Forester's Burning Ban for all counties, effective at 7 a.m., Friday, May 1.

Agency officials believe the combination of rain, elevated relative humidity, improved overnight recovery and a lack of significant wind in the forecast warrant removing all remaining counties from outdoor burning restrictions.

“Many areas of the state have seen rainfall this week, and higher relative humidity and fuel moisture continue to mitigate significant fire potential,” said SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones. “Though we expect even more rain across more of the state in the next week, people who choose to burn outdoors should still exercise vigilance as the rain we have received has not changed the state’s drought status.”
