Local Donation Equips Hampton County Fire Rescue Trucks with Spill Kits

HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. — Hampton County Fire Rescue has received a local donation to equip all of its rescue trucks throughout the county with 30-gallon spill kits.

The kits will give responding crews supplies to help contain and clean up small fuel and other fluid spills at vehicle crashes and similar incidents. Having the equipment on each rescue truck will help crews address spill hazards promptly and reduce the risk to motorists, emergency personnel, and the environment.

“We are grateful for this generous local donation. Support like this helps us put practical equipment in the hands of our firefighters and strengthens the service we provide across Hampton County.” - Fire Chief Christopher G. Parker.

🚒🚑🚁 CAN YOU RECOGNIZE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY?

Yesterday afternoon, Hampton County Fire Rescue assisted EMS with establishing a landing zone as our air medical partners were called in to help get a patient to a higher level of care.

While we cannot share the details of the call, moments like this give us an opportunity to remind our community that recognizing the signs and calling 911 early can make a difference.

🧠 Stroke: Face drooping, arm weakness, difficulty speaking, sudden confusion or severe headache.

☀️ Heat Stroke: Confusion, altered behavior, fainting, seizures, very high body temperature, or hot skin.

When something does not look right, do not wait it out. Call 911.

From our telecommunicators who answer the call, to Fire, EMS, and our air medical partners, it takes a team to get help where it is needed.

Know the signs. Make the call. When minutes matter, we’re ready. 🚒🚑🚁

Some things change with time, but the heart behind them remains the same.

Today, we are proud to officially introduce the newly updated patch of Hampton County Fire Rescue.

To some, it may simply be a patch. To us, it represents those who served before us, those answering the call today, and those who will carry the mission forward tomorrow.

As our department continues to grow, we wanted something that represents who we are while honoring the foundation that brought us here.

The design may be new, but the mission remains unchanged.

To serve. To protect. To answer the call.

New look. Same heart. Same commitment to Hampton County.

Today, Hampton County Fire Rescue pauses to remember a day that forever changed our nation and our fire service family.

On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call. They climbed when others were coming down. They ran toward danger when others were running away. Behind every helmet and every number was a person who was loved, a family waiting at home, and a firefighter simply doing what they were called to do.

Twenty five years later, we remember them. We honor every life lost that day. We remember the survivors, the families, the first responders, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless others whose lives were forever changed.

For those of us who serve today, their sacrifice is more than history. It is part of the legacy we carry every time the tones drop and we answer the call.

343 firefighters. Nearly 3,000 lives. One nation forever changed.

We remember. We honor. We love. And we will NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸🚒

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers mourning the loss of Deputy Hendricks.

The loss of a public servant is felt far beyond the agency they served. We stand alongside the Charleston County law enforcement community during this difficult time and keep all who knew and loved Deputy Hendricks in our thoughts and prayers.

May his service and dedication never be forgotten. 🖤💙

🏃‍♂️🔥 PROUD OF OUR OWN!

Hampton County Fire/Rescue would like to recognize one of our full time firefighters, Eddie Gibson, for participating in the 2026 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in Columbia!

The Tunnel to Towers events honor the courage and sacrifice of FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller, who gave his life on September 11, 2001, as well as the first responders, military members, and families who continue to serve and sacrifice.

And Eddie didn’t just show up. He showed OUT!

With temperatures around 95 degrees at race time, Eddie finished 212th out of 1,930 participants and placed 11th in his division for the 5K!

We’re proud to have firefighters who not only serve Hampton County every day, but also take the time to honor the legacy and sacrifice of those who came before them.

Great job, Eddie! Hampton County Fire/Rescue is proud of you!

Look! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… it’s just CARE Flight coming to our rescue again! 🚁😂

Seriously, when minutes matter, they show up, do the darn thing, and head back to the skies… but never without drawing a little crowd!

So, if you heard the chopper in the air a few minutes ago, it was our partners at CARE Flight assisting Medic 2 with patient care.

Another great example of teamwork in action and doing whatever it takes to get our patients the care they need. ❤️🚑🚁

As always, thank you CARE Flight for answering the call!

Happy Labor Day from Hampton County! 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the hardworking men and women whose hands, hearts, and dedication help keep our communities moving forward.

Labor Day has been celebrated as a federal holiday since 1894, recognizing the contributions and achievements of American workers. From first responders and educators to farmers, healthcare workers, tradespeople, small business owners, public servants, and so many others, your work matters.

Today, we celebrate YOU. Thank you for the work you do and the difference you make every day.

Be reminded that our county government offices are closed today and will reopen tomorrow at normal business hours.
