Good horse training is boring.

Where most people struggle when working with their horse, is in doing too much too fast. Hands too fast, change of exercise too fast, thoughts too fast.

The work is to be mundane and boring, the rewards, however, those are exciting.

This time of year, there’s nothing sweeter than seeing all of these foals on the ground! It takes hours and hours of time, intense management, and money to produce these babies. What I CANNOT stand is seeing a broodmare by their side that is skinny, has horrible feet, and is standing in a nasty stall/ mud hole of a field.

If you are expecting your broodmares/ stallions to produce nice babies for you all while neglecting their care and “cutting costs” then SHAME ON YOU! These mares spend 11 months growing that baby for you, then birth that baby for you, THEN they raise that baby on their side for 4-7 months just for you… They deserve the BEST care possible.

Raising a foal is mentally and physically exhausting on theses horses and they get nothing out of it other than you taking that baby away from them at weaning. The absolute least you can do is make sure she is receiving the proper nutrition, hoof care, and environment.

Look what came in the mail today!!!

Personal horses that have gone through our program will now carry our brand to represent our principles and integrity and wherever they go!

For me this brand symbolizes the hard work, dedication, and motivation to be a better horseman each day. I built this brand from nothing and I take so much pride in being able to have a mark that will represent me and my values wherever these horses may go.

Lately, I have been focusing on finishing my senior year of college and my last college rodeo season strong, but be looking for big things for Jazzy B Performance Horses this spring! I am very thankful for those of you who continue to help and support me in this endeavor!

So many people say:

”I don’t want to Futurity because it will blow the horse up.”
“I don’t want to put the pressure on them.”
“I want a long term horse.”

I’ve heard it all. What people don’t talk about though... what happens when you go too SLOW???

•What happens when your horse isn’t challenged regularly.
•When his mind is numb.
•When he doesn’t care.
•When he can aimlessly go through the motions to please you.

>>>This might not be shown in any type of “bad behavior,” but I can dang sure tell the difference sitting on a horse craving to learn and one that’s just ready for this class to be over.

I see this wayyyy more than the horses being blown up.

So because we compare training horses to people here, to put it in perspective... when you were in school, do you remember attending classes that you wanted to be in, and attending ones just for attendance? Classes where you were engaged to learn, and classes you couldn’t wait to be over? It’s the SAME THING.

Sometimes going slower or taking longer is not the answer. Go at the speed YOUR horse needs.

“The hardest part of training your colts is watching everyone else’s.” Go at your own speed. Go at your horses speed. Don’t get stuck on “perfect.” Keep the mind sharp.
