What a beautiful day in Southeastern KY. The sun is shining (for now), it is the holiday season, and it is peaceful. I am content where I am physically; however, I am ramped up mentally. I have been reading allot about the comments that were made about "Nursing not being a profession. I went to school (most of my life as my family would tell you) and worked hard to get that license. I went even further to get a 4 year degree an MBA in Health Care Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, so I could continue in my profession. Having someone say to you, "Oh by the way, your years of practice and learning (you learn something everyday) is not a profession, has never held a dying patient's hand because she had no family. Been in the room when a doctor had to tell a mother that her 18-month-old did not make it. Or that psych patient that decided to use you as a punching bag. I am a professional, I am a Registered Nurse, I am part of a family that if you know you know. We are one united force to be reckoned with.
We work together, cry together, rejoice together, and lean on each other for support. We are more than a profession, we are family. If anyone who does not believe that, needs to come spend a couple of hours walking in our shoes. I love my nursing family from all over the world. We may not know each other, but I guarantee you we stick together.

Thank you for joining me on my new journey (hopefully I take the first step). I wanted to let you know what I actually do. A Legal Nurse Consultant is someone that bridges the gap between the legal forum and medical practice. I turn complex medical records into legal clarity. I have 20 plus years of experience in most areas of the medical field. I started as a ward clerk, LPN, RN at the bedside, and then MBA, BSN to Director Level. I work with Lawyers, other Legal Nurse Consultants, and law firms to see if there is merit in their case. I am fully committed to help law practices have the information they need in organized manner when they go to court. I can work for the defense or the plaintiff. Complete transparency if they have a credible case or not.
At this time, I am working on a referral basis and going to be reaching out on my social media accounts. If you know of anyone who might need my services, please reach out, or give them my information. I hope everyone will pray for success as this is WAY out of my comfort zone.

Today I tell you what is on my heart. I AM a Nurse. Someone close to me told me that I am not a Nurse because I am not working any longer in that capacity. I have to tell you; it wrecked my world coming from my loving husband. He has supported me all the way through nursing school and all the places I have been, and then says, "You aren't a Nurse anymore". Crushed is the word that comes to mind. Nurses are nurses for life. We can't help it, it is ingrained into our very being. I don't stop being a nurse because a psychiatric patient not once but twice attacked me, ending my bedside career. My mind is still sharp and willing; my body is not. I am starting a new chapter, hopefully and prayerfully. The funding is not there yet, God will provide. I will come out of this and be better for it. So never let your support be unsupportive. You are who you are and that can never change. I AM Nurse forever!!!!!

Today is a beautiful day, wherever you are. Think of the way you want to be treated today and make every effort to treat others that way. It is free to give a smile, a wave, or a hello (if you are really ambitious). Life is not about what you can get, it is about what you can give. Kindness and smiles are free. So today set out to be intentionally kind and glad, smile at strangers and make them wonder what you are up to.
