Latest news flash from Michigan Burglar & Fire Alarm Association. As most of you already know Comcast has entered into our industry. AT&T is on the verge of doing so as well. We are ok with that, we welcome competition. It's the American way. What we don't like is how they are doing it. Back in 1977 ( 3 years after I came into the field) Michigan began development of a licensing bill that was completed in 1981. We still adhere to those policies and requirements today. The most important requirement we feel is that No previously convicted felons may enter into our business. Fair request right? No, not for AT&T and Comcast anyway. They have said "We will not play by your rules."They want total deregulation of the industry, in other words back to the days prior to our license act when any trunk slammer could install a security system. No enforcement of background checks on all employees. Anyone could be in your house or business installing an Alarm or Camera system by day and then return to burglarize you by night. Does any of this make sense to you? These are not just scare tactics. All we are asking from them is "A Level Playing Field. We must enforce our most important license requirements: NO FELONS and ENFORCE STRINGENT BACKGROUND CHECKS on all employees. We are very concerned for the consuming public as we move forward through these very challenging times facing our industry. If you agree with our perspective please like this post and more importantly write your legislators. These guys obviously have deep pockets and have bullied their way through this process that took us 4 years to complete in 8 days.

It's off to Petsmart again. I just found out yesterday that this job we are doing for them is one of only four just like it that are being done chain wide. They will be used as a model system for all new applications. It's basically the new prototype.

This little guy (Silas) wouldn't let his Mommie shop yesterday because he wanted to watch me working off of the lift. Mom was intent to just wait till he had his fill. That never happened. I came down from the ceiling and asked him if he would like to come up for a picture. His mom was elated and so was I. We didn't go up with it or move, I don't think Petsmart would approve. I know It made my day and he was pretty happy too.
