Imagine being aware of a limiting habit before it takes over your whole body and your actions. Coaching can bring about subtle but powerful shifts for clients like this one: “We self-regulate and cultivate more resourceful inner states that produce resilience and choice.”

One of the key means through which we help our clients, and ourselves, to live and lead more authentically is to learn to see the underlying dynamics that shape us. These underlying dynamics are both with us (in the body) and outside of us (in the ecology of requests and relationships that shapes our external context.) Making these dynamics explicit (or “object”) is the first crucial step towards resourcing ourselves differently, and negotiating with the pulls of these dynamics so that new options become available.

We can introduce daylight between us and these underlying forces. We can make visible the unseen hand that, left unquestioned, shapes our behavior and limits our possibilities.

One of the ways we can do this is through somatic work that brings us into the present. Then, we can actively and directly experience our own internal system as it interacts with the system around us. We self-regulate and cultivate more resourceful inner states that produce resilience and choice.

Check out Monette! Not only is she the absolute best to co-design and co-facilitate Women's Leadership Collective with, she is on fire with her nature photography and leadership metaphors. 🔥💚

Allow me to introduce myself … I'm Monette, half of the Women's Leadership Collective founding partnership. As a coach, I get excited by helping people tap into their potential. I do so by creating an environment that challenges and supports, with appropriate dashes of humor, because life-changing work can be fun.

I’m inspired by nature and draw from its examples of shared strength, self-generation, and adaptation. I especially believe in the power of women, individually and collectively. Whoo, what we can accomplish when we're deeply rooted in and connected to our leadership presence!

I look forward to working with you, as part of the collective, to realize your possibilities.

Feeling grateful to live in the and have the opportunity to be in nature daily.

We need nature! Viewing nature calms our nervous systems - this makes common sense, AND there is growing research to support the benefits to human well-being. "Over 100 studies have shown that being in nature, living near nature, or even viewing nature in paintings and videos can have positive impacts on our brains, bodies, feelings, thought processes, and social interactions. In particular, viewing nature seems to be inherently rewarding, producing a cascade of positive (sic) emotions and calming our nervous systems. These in turn help us to cultivate greater openness, creativity, connection, generosity, and resilience."

It helps us by creating prosocial behaviors like cooperation and kindness. It generates positive emotions, which can help us feel closer to others and act with greater civility. Who doesn't need that? And it creates a sense of awe.

So, go on, get yourself in nature! Or at least stare at the image in this post. 🌳

Do you have kind thoughts that don't get expressed for one reason or another? The moment passes or you think you'll have another chance to say what pops in your mind? As I get older (maybe wiser), I'm becoming more aware of how saying these thoughts out loud can make a positive difference in someone's life.

Amanda Blake's book, Your Body is Your Brain, is powerful. We hold so much knowledge and wisdom in all of that space from the neck down. However, many of us have been rewarded for focusing primarily on the cognitive (think traditional education and grades, using logic and analysis for problem solving and decision making). We've been missing out on the body, what Blake calls our "social and emotional sense organ," as both a source of information and a partner in change. Including the body in work, as clients are comfortable doing so, often leads to deep insights and shifts that are limited when working solely with the brain.
