The Hartsel Fire Protection District Fire Academy has officially come to an end, and we couldn’t be more proud of Daniel, Blake, Dietrich, and Evan for the hard work, dedication, and determination they showed throughout these past two weeks. From early mornings filled with physical fitness to countless hours of hands-on training each day, these recruits pushed themselves both mentally and physically to prepare for the job ahead.

On the final day of the academy, recruits completed multiple live fire scenarios as a crew, putting all of their training and teamwork to the test in realistic fireground conditions. Hartsel Fire was also honored to welcome and meet the families who came out to support these recruits as they completed this major milestone.

A huge thank you to Chief Brian Cook for organizing and leading this academy to better serve and strengthen our community. We are excited to officially welcome these four men to the team and look forward to watching them continue to grow in the fire service. Congratulations, recruits! 🔥

Week 2, Day 3 of the Hartsel Fire Protection District Fire Academy is complete, with just one final day remaining! Recruits spent the day working on scene size-ups, structure recognition, and operational tactics before moving into an intense afternoon of RIT training and firefighter survival inside a zero-visibility, two-story burn building. The academy wraps up tomorrow with live fire training as recruits put all of their skills to the test. 🔥

Week 1 of the Hartsel Fire Protection District Academy is officially complete for these four recruits. Throughout the week, recruits trained hard across multiple disciplines and finished today by successfully completing several vehicle extrication scenarios.

In addition to academy training, recruits also had the opportunity to respond alongside on-duty crews to multiple motor vehicle accidents, gaining valuable real-world experience in emergency response operations.

After a well-earned few days of rest and recovery, the recruits will return next week to finish the final portion of the academy. We’re proud of the dedication, professionalism, and hard work these recruits have shown so far.
