80 Years of Hines | The People Behind the Legacy

As we celebrate 80 years of service, we are taking time to recognize some of the people whose dedication helped build and sustain the Hines legacy.

Today, we honor Mrs. Delores Hines Gibson.

Mrs. Gibson’s history with the Hines family of businesses stretches back more than five decades. She began working at Hines Florist in the 1970s, serving during an important chapter in our family’s history.

Her journey later took her to Darlington Memory Gardens, where she served as manager for a number of years. There, she assisted countless families with cemetery arrangements, memorialization, and the important responsibility of caring for the final resting places entrusted to us.

And today, her story has come full circle.

Mrs. Gibson is once again serving at Hines Florist — the same place where her journey began more than 50 years ago.

When we talk about 80 years of Hines, we aren't simply talking about a building, a business name, or a date on a calendar. We are talking about people. People who showed up. People who served families. People who carried our standards and traditions from one generation to the next.

Mrs. Gibson is one of those people.

Her decades of service represent the loyalty, continuity, and commitment to community that has allowed the Hines legacy to endure since 1946.

THROWBACK TRIBUTE | 80 YEARS OF HINES

As we celebrate 80 years of Hines Funeral Home, we recognize that our legacy was not built by one person or one generation. It was built by dedicated men and women who believed in serving families with dignity, professionalism, and compassion.

Today, we honor Mr. Robert Cabbagestalk and Mr. Frank Benjamin, two former Hines Funeral Home associates whose service became part of the foundation upon which our firm continues to stand.

Long before social media, websites, and online reviews, a funeral home’s reputation was built person by person, family by family, and service by service. Associates like Mr. Cabbagestalk and Mr. Benjamin represented Hines Funeral Home in the community and helped establish the standard of service that has carried forward through generations.

Eighty years is more than a milestone—it is a collection of people, stories, sacrifices, and relationships.
