What makes Hart County unique? What are the stories, traditions, experiences and cultures that have shaped our community?
A UGA research team is spending time in our community this year exploring those questions, and they want to hear directly from the people who live here.
The project will include oral history interviews, storytelling, community workshops and performances, creating opportunities for local residents to share their experiences and help document the people and stories that make Hart County what it is.
The first event is happening Saturday, August 29th, at the Hartwell Art Center, and it is a little different from your typical community meeting.
Dance Across Cultures: A Music & Movement Workshop
Led by Dr. Fuad Elhage of the University of Georgia, the workshop will use music and movement to bring people together and explore culture and connection. Dr. Elhage has taught UGA's Diversity Through Dance program for years, using dance as a way to encourage cross-cultural and cross-generational communication.
No dance experience is required. The workshop is designed for everyone, whether you want to participate in the dancing or simply come, listen, learn and be part of the conversation.

This is a free public event, and adults, families, teens, friends, neighbors and community organizations are all welcome.
Most importantly, this is an opportunity to be part of a project that is asking a simple but important question:
What stories should be told about Hart County, and who should tell them?
