This was an important question from Cheryl N Scott Grudzinski and 100's or other people. Here was my response to Cheryl which is found as a comment/reply in a Nebraskans Against Government Overreach post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18g65y2PB9/

Walz for Governor ok what are the unconsitutional regulation and laws that the federal government are imposing that you object to? Please explain yourself.

N Scott Grudzinski Art 1 Sec 9 of the US Constitution states that congress cannot make a law limiting immigration to any state PRIOR to the year 1808. It is intuitive that after 1808 the US Constitution gives congress the authority to make laws pertaining to immigration which leads us to 8 USC 1227: Deportable aliens. Any person entering the country illegally is subject to deportation. This is a valid authority of the federal government. Nebraska is obligated to assist in the deportation of illegal aliens just as every other state is: this is the agreement as defined in the compact created between the sovereign states, the legal document of this compact is the US Constitution. Any state not fulfilling their part of the contract should be sued and compelled to fulfill what they agreed to. What I was referring to are the unconstitutional regulation and laws imposed by the federal government

Here is a tip of the iceberg:

The federal government overreaches with the Dept. of Education, imposing national curricula, standards, and funding mandates on state and local schools. Education is not an enumerated federal power. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The EPA overreaches by imposing nationwide environmental rules on private property, land use, and intrastate emissions. No constitutional authority exists for federal environmental control. Violates the 10th Amendment and the limited scope of the Commerce Clause in Article I, Section 8.

Federal Healthcare Mandates (e.g., ACA/Obamacare): The federal government overreaches by mandating individual insurance purchases and coercing states to expand Medicaid. Healthcare regulation is not a delegated power. Violates the 10th Amendment and Article I, Section 8’s enumerated powers.

The federal government overreaches by operating massive redistribution programs that create dependency. These are not among Congress’s enumerated powers and misuse the General Welfare Clause. Violates the 10th Amendment.

Agencies like the FBI, DOJ, and DHS overreach by pressuring or funding local police/sheriffs to enforce federal priorities via grants and consent decrees. Domestic policing is reserved to states and counties. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by stretching the Commerce Clause to regulate purely local activities (e.g., farming, manufacturing). Only interstate commerce is federal. Violates Article I, Section 8’s specific enumeration and the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by owning and regulating vast lands within sovereign states beyond D.C. and military enclaves. Post-statehood land management is reserved to states under equal footing. Violates the 10th Amendment and Article I, Section 8.

Federal COVID-19 Lockdowns and Business Closures are overreach by using CDC guidelines and funding leverage to pressure states, counties, schools, businesses, and churches into lockdowns and shutdowns, restricting assembly, worship, movement, and livelihoods for individuals and local communities. Violates the 10th Amendment and 1st/5th Amendments.

The federal government overreached through OSHA rules, executive orders, and military mandates requiring vaccination, coercing individuals, employers, and local governments into compliance or lose jobs/funding. This directly encumbered personal bodily autonomy and medical choice at the individual level. Violates the 4th, 5th, 9th, & 10th Amendment liberty protections.

The federal government overreached by imposing CDC mask, distancing, and testing rules that dictated policies for local schools, counties, businesses, and people, overriding community and personal decisions on daily life. No enumerated federal power exists. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreached by tying relief funds to compliance with federal lockdown, mask, vaccine, and school policies, effectively commandeering state, county, and local officials to enforce dictates on individuals. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches via Department of Energy standards that phase out and effectively ban traditional incandescent bulbs, dictating what lighting individuals can buy and use in their own homes. No enumerated power exists. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches through NHTSA/EPA rules imposing fleet-wide efficiency standards and electric vehicle quotas on automakers, restricting what cars individuals can purchase and raising costs. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by coercing states into issuing standardized REAL ID-compliant licenses/IDs that individuals must obtain for air travel and federal access, creating de facto national tracking of personal movement. Violates the 4th & 10th Amendments.

Federal agencies (IRS, FinCEN, Census, NSA) overreach by requiring personal/financial/travel data from individuals via forms, reports, and surveillance—far beyond constitutional needs—enabling potential future weaponization against citizens. Violates the 4th and 10th Amendments.

The federal government overreaches by requiring individuals to obtain federal permits/licenses (e.g., for drones, certain radio use, or environmental approvals on private land) before engaging in lawful personal activities. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by EPA definitions claiming jurisdiction over ditches, ponds, and seasonal wet areas on private land, requiring individuals to obtain federal permits for farming, building, or ordinary use. Violates the 10th Amendment and Article I, Section 8.

The federal government overreaches through Department of Energy standards that ban or restrict common refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, and HVAC units, forcing individuals to buy only government-approved models for their homes. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by FDA rules prohibiting or heavily regulating raw milk sales and dietary supplements, limiting individuals’ personal food and health choices at the local or home level. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by requiring individuals to register small recreational drones flown over private property, creating a national database tracking personal hobby activities. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches through utility incentives and rules pushing installation of smart meters that collect detailed hourly energy usage data from individual homes for government monitoring and potential weaponization. Violates the 4th and 10th Amendments.

Federal agencies overreach by seizing cash, vehicles, and property from individuals without criminal conviction, often through partnerships with county sheriffs and local police. Violates the 4th, 5th, and 10th Amendments.

The federal government overreaches by requiring homeowners in designated flood zones to purchase costly National Flood Insurance Program policies as a condition of mortgages. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches through Department of Energy efficiency standards that ban standard toilets, showers, and faucets, compelling individuals to buy more expensive compliant replacements for their own homes. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by imposing strict emission limits on wood stoves and fireplaces, requiring individuals to purchase expensive EPA-certified models or upgrades just to heat their homes. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches via EPA rules mandating certified contractors, training, and procedures for any work disturbing lead paint in older homes, imposing major extra costs on individual homeowners. Violates the 10th Amendment.

The federal government overreaches by requiring individuals to pay NICS background check and processing fees when buying fi****ms, creating a financial barrier to exercising constitutional rights. Violates the 2nd & 10th Amendments.

An open letter from John Walz (Republican Primary Candidate for Governor):

"I am John Walz, I want to explain why I placed my name on the ballot in the Republican primary for Governor of Nebraska.
The answer comes down to something very practical: risk management.
The filing deadline for the governor’s race was March 2nd at 5:00 p.m. In the days leading up to that deadline, it became clear that Governor Pillen was the only Republican candidate who appeared broadly electable statewide.
However, an audit released by State Auditor Mike Foley raised serious questions of potential criminal activity involving a multi-million-dollar emergency no-bid contract issued through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. Those concerns are now being investigated by the Lincoln Police Department.
Whether that investigation ultimately leads anywhere remains to be seen. But it raised an important question:
What happens if the unexpected occurs?
If Governor Pillen were forced to withdraw after the filing deadline and no viable contingency candidate had filed, Nebraska Republicans could lose the governor’s office by default. That would mean the most important statewide office being decided not by voters — but by a paperwork deadline.
For more than a week before the deadline, I contacted individuals who had previously run for governor and others with greater name recognition and established political networks and encouraged them to file as a contingency candidate.
No one chose to do so.
So on the day of the filing deadline, I went to the Secretary of State’s office shortly before close and asked if anyone else had filed. No one had. So I filed.
That decision was not driven by ambition. It was driven by responsibility.
I spent many years working as an engineering project manager, where one of the core responsibilities is identifying risks and mitigating them before they become disasters. Risk management comes down to two questions:
How likely is it?
And how bad is it if it happens?
Sometimes the probability of a problem may be small. But if the consequences are large enough, responsible leaders mitigate the risk anyway. I placed my name on the ballot to ensure Nebraska would not be caught without a contingency plan.
As long as Governor Pillen remains electable, I will not be mounting a traditional statewide campaign requiring resources that I do not have, it would be a futile effort. But my presence on the ballot ensures Nebraska has a prepared “next man up” should circumstances unexpectedly change.
My broader view of government is straightforward: Nebraska must start behaving like a sovereign state again. Our rights come from God — not from government — the founders of both the United States and Nebraska designed civil government to protect our God given rights while keeping authority as close to the people as possible.
Nebraska has its own economy, its own culture, and its own values. The people who live here — not distant bureaucrats — should be shaping “The Good Life” that only Nebraskans truly understand.
If called upon to serve, my priorities would include:
• Directing Nebraska agencies not to cooperate with federal mandates that exceed constitutional authority
• Working toward eliminating property taxes on primary residences
• Strengthening election transparency through precinct-level paper ballots
• Ending the annual vehicle registration tax cycle that treats ownership like a subscription service
• Requiring full transparency in state spending so taxpayers can clearly see where every dollar goes
• Restricting the influence of lobbyists and outside political money
• Strengthening data privacy protections for Nebraska citizens
• Encouraging resilient and decentralized energy infrastructure
• Ensuring clear country-of-origin labeling so consumers know where their food and products come from
• Protecting citizens from the expanding surveillance state
• Returning the ultimate say to the people through fully informed juries
• Capping Nebraska’s tax collection to a percentage of the GDP
Using the line item veto pen liberally on appropriation bills
I also intend to establish a statewide citizen task force that travels across Nebraska holding town halls and public forums so Nebraskans can speak directly about the issues affecting their communities. I believe the best ideas rarely come from bureaucrats — they come from the people.
Leadership is not about ambition. Sometimes leadership simply means stepping forward when no one else will.
Vote for me in the primary and encourage others to do so as well. Politicians respond to the electorate only when they are beholden to them. Let Gov Pillen understand through low primary numbers that you are not happy.
Thank you, and may God bless the great state of Nebraska."
