"If we won't skip a step to protect our people, do you think we'd skip one on your order?"
At Acme Corrugated Box, safety isn't a poster on the wall. Before anyone touches a machine that's jammed, being cleared, or under maintenance, it gets shut down completely, with every hazard source isolated and locked. Then our team does one more thing most places skip: before work starts, they try to start the machine anyway, to confirm it actually can't.
That standard is led by our safety manager, Tom Wertman, and it doesn't stay inside our walls. Other packaging companies have reached out to benchmark against our program. A local one shared they had no formal safety policy before working with Tom. They now have a safety team in place and are building out real procedures of their own, because of what they learned from us.
That's what "we don't skip a step" actually means here. It's not a slogan for the break room, it's the same standard whether we're protecting the person standing next to the machine or the order about to leave our dock. If we won't cut that corner for our own people, we're not going to cut it for you. It's the Acme Way!
What is The Acme Way? We're glad you asked!
It's a set of 24 fundamentals every person at Acme Corrugated Box holds themselves to, on the floor, with each other, and with every order that leaves our building. Over the next few weeks, we'll share some of these fundamentals and what they mean for you.
