“There was just no plan B.”

At our final Coffee w/ an Entrepreneur of the semester, Gary Stanton of Muscadine Bloodline gave students an honest look at what the early days of chasing a dream really looked like: ramen noodles, shared bedrooms, and believing in the vision before anyone else could fully see it.

While a student at Southern Miss, one moment during Golden Eagle Welcome Week changed everything. After stepping on stage for the GEWW talent show in front of a packed auditorium, Gary realized maybe this dream could become something real.

“As minuscule as that is in the grand scheme of everything, that was like ‘Here’s a pebble. Throw it in the water.’ Here starts the ripple effect. Oh, maybe there is something to this.”

A powerful reminder that big opportunities often begin with small steps and the courage to simply say, “Yes.”

Thank you to Gary Stanton for sharing your story and to Drew Wooten for leading such a meaningful conversation.

SEP Thrive brought together 12 incredible high school student teams from across Mississippi — Ocean Springs to Columbus — for a day of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking.

Students pitched their ventures, shared creative solutions, and connected with fellow young entrepreneurs. We are so proud of each team for the hard work, creativity, and confidence they brought!

Stay tuned as we highlight this year’s winners and share more about their ventures!

For our next Coffee w/ an Entrepreneur, we’re bringing in Gary Stanton of Muscadine Bloodline to share what it’s like to build a brand, navigate the music industry, and turn passion into a career as an independent artist.

This is not a concert. Moderated by Drew Wooten, this is a rare opportunity to hear them discuss the journey behind the music and the decisions that made it all possible.

This month’s event is presented in collaboration with the The School of Performing and Visual Arts at USM, who are hosting us in the beautiful Tatum Theatre. Registration is required through Eagle Hub (see link). Doors will open at 11:30 AM.

What a great conversation and such a fun group to have in the room!

A big thank you to Annah Johnson, Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Petal, for joining us at Coffee w/ an Entrepreneur and sharing her journey of bringing Chick-fil-A to Petal — from testing the market with a food truck to building something that truly serves the community. One of the biggest takeaways? If you don’t have a passion for what you’re doing, it’s going to burn out quickly. Annah shared how she discovered her passion is people — and how Chick-fil-A gave her the opportunity to love, serve, and influence others every single day.

Thanks to everyone who came out and leaned into the conversation! We can’t wait to see you back for our next Coffee w/ an Entrepreneur on April 22!
