Yesterday was a challenging day for Bossier Parish Fire District #1. We honored and celebrated the life and service of our Fire Chief Robert Roe.

Our department is truly grateful to the support shown our community, department, our firefighters, and Chief Roe’s family during this time.

We thank each public safety department that helped us honor a great man that exemplified servant leadership.

The list of public safety agencies that assisted us is longer than we can list here, several agencies stood watch over our community allowing our members to attend the service, provided equipment for the service, and assisted with escorting.

Please note that there will be no funeral procession following the Celebration of Life. However, apparatus from outside departments are invited and encouraged to attend in honor of Chief Roe. The Celebration of Life will conclude the scheduled services honoring Chief Roe.

Chief Roe’s life was defined by faithful service, steady leadership, and devotion to his family, his fire department family, and the community he served. We invite our community and fire service partners to join us as we remember his life, honor his legacy, and support the Roe family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the East 80 Fireman’s Fund or Central Assembly of God.

VISITATION

Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Central Assembly of God, 700 Highway 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Assembly of God, 700 Highway 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037, with Pastor Jeff Gravis officiating.

PROCESSION AND INTERMENT

There will be no funeral procession or interment service following the Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life at Central Assembly of God will conclude the scheduled services honoring Fire Chief Robert W. Roe.

FIRE SERVICE PARTICIPATION

Agencies wishing to send apparatus, honor guard personnel, or uniformed representatives must register with Lee Hedgepeth at [email protected] or (318) 349-2867 no later than Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Please do not self-deploy apparatus to the venue.

Our department is deeply saddened to announce the Line of Duty Death of our Fire Chief Robert W. Roe after his courageous battle with Cancer.

Chief Roe dedicated 37 years of his life to serving the citizens of Bossier Parish, starting his career as a Junior Firefighter at 16 years old then working his way through the ranks, to the highest rank of Fire Chief.

We ask that you keep the Roe family as well as our firefighters in your prayers as we navigate this difficult time.

🚨 JULY 2026 RUN REPORT 🚨

July was our busiest month of the year, with Bossier Fire District #1 responding to 219 calls for service throughout our district.

🚫 Canceled/False Alarms – 20
🚗 Motor Vehicle Accidents – 9
☣️ HazMat Calls – 8
🔥 Grass Fires – 3
🍳 Cooking Fires – 1

While these numbers show how frequently our crews are called upon, they also highlight an important reminder: many emergencies can be prevented.

🔥 WE ARE CURRENTLY UNDER A BURN BAN. 🔥

With the ongoing drought and extremely dry conditions, we strongly encourage everyone to avoid all outdoor burning until conditions improve and the burn ban is lifted.

Please do not burn leaves, trash, brush, grass, or other materials during these dangerous conditions. A small fire can quickly become an uncontrolled wildfire, especially when vegetation and surrounding areas are extremely dry.

Our best tool during a drought is prevention. Please help us protect your home, your property, and your neighbors by avoiding unnecessary fire risks.

Stay safe, stay informed, and please do not burn while the burn ban is in effect.

Fire conditions are rapidly worsening. Although we are under a burn ban, fires can be caused by factors outside of burning such as power lines and chains dragging.

Any fires found should be reported immediately by calling 911 before they grow to a dangerous and uncontrollable size.

Worsening drought conditions and shifting winds will contribute to increased fire danger beginning Saturday. Follow burn guidance of local officials, as several counties/parishes are currently under burn bans.
