: Yesterday, over 400 forest associations, businesses, and landowners joined forces in an urgent call to action.
In a letter to President Trump, the coalition, spearheaded by the Forest Landowners Association, American Biomass Energy Association, and American Loggers Council, highlighted a mounting forestry crisis threatening America’s timber supply, rural economies, and energy security.
But we’re not just sounding the alarm—we’re pushing for four concrete solutions:
1. Support the Disaster Reforestation Act to help landowners recover and replant after catastrophic natural disasters.
2. Expand the definition of “woody biomass” in the Renewable Fuel Standard, unlocking new markets for low-value wood and boosting renewable energy production.
3. Promote biomass for electricity, creating rural jobs, lowering wildfire risk, and enhancing renewable energy.
4. Back the Loggers Economic Assistance Act to stabilize the workforce of logging contractors
This is a timely escalation of the Administration’s earlier Executive Order (March 1, 2025) to boost domestic timber and wood product production.
Without swift implementation, the letter warns, we risk losing critical forestland, markets, and millions of forestry-dependent jobs.
Overall, this coalition represents a powerful cross-section of stakeholders advocating for working forests—not only as an economic lifeline but also as essential to national security, infrastructure, and environmental resilience
