Meet Nate Welsh, a Senior Technical Talent Manager on LufCo’s Talent Management Team. Nate specializes in connecting high-level talent with the "builder mindset" that defines LufCo. We sat down with him to discuss the reward of a successful hire, why curiosity is a top metric, and how LufCo is stripping the friction out of the application process.

🔷 Share a bit about why you enjoy the Talent Acquisition Space.

"It is fulfilling to guide an engaged, talented candidate through the hiring journey and cross that finish line with an accepted offer. It is then doubly rewarding when that individual joins their team and I later hear about the positive impact they have had on the mission, culture, and general company capabilities. Looking around and seeing all the folks who make LufCo the success story that it is and knowing that conscientious Talent Management played an impactful role as a matchmaker, generates an enormous sense of pride."

🔷 Beyond the resume, what tells you someone is the right fit for LufCo?

"This is a company of builders and tinkerers—people who are curious about the way things work and how they can make everything around them better in some way. Seeing that same mentality from candidates in how they discuss their work and personal projects is often one component that might indicate this person is a good fit for us."

🔷 As we evolve our process, what’s one traditional "hiring headache" we’ve worked hard to eliminate at LufCo?

"We’ve done away with the 'manual re-entry' trap and shifted to a streamlined application process. Everyone dreads those application systems where you upload your resume and then it asks you to enter the same information manually. Our application process utilizes resume parsing to fill in as many of those fields as possible without asking the candidate to do it. By removing that repetitive busywork, we can skip the basics and focus on the questions that actually matter."

🔷 What activities do you enjoy outside the office?

"I try to remain active and provide a healthy outlet for my competitive nature through adult league lacrosse and swimming. I have recently enjoyed seeing my kids become more interested in video games, even the "old" N64 which I still love to play."
