It's 2020! I can't believe I started this business nearly twelve years ago already. I have captured things beyond the lens of my camera, and made friends with the best clients an untrained, just shootin' from her gut photographer could ever asked for! During this time I have photographed nearly 100 weddings. Each one special, making me appreciate the profound importance a wedding ceremony depicts. What I have valued about photographing a wedding is the families that rally together to support and love on each couple. It is for that reason, that I have made the decision to take a step back from photography weddings.
It hit me this past year when I was shooting a gorgeous fall wedding. I could not have asked for a better day or a more beautiful bridal couple, but my family was away at an event for my daughter. Ironically, there was a photographer there spending her entire day photographing the event, and later posted a picture of my daughter on Facebook (and no we did not know each other, she posted an image and it did what it was supposed to). That photo gripped me so profoundly. In that moment, I was so grateful to a photographer who was spending hours on end at an all-day, two-day event, away from her family, and she captured my daughter. My desire is to be present where my family is - my daughter is nearly fourteen and my son a few months shy of eleven. I have realized how quickly these years have flown by, and they do so slowly, in almost an unnoticeable way. I do not want to miss another weekend of them. I could not be more thankful to all of those couples who trusted me with their special day - you each have truly taught me so much and blessed me with so many wonderful memories. For now, I pass the wedding baton on to the many other immeasurably talented photographers in my area. They are all amazing!!
P.S. I am still here and available to capture all of your other family photo needs.
