“Recently, I received a letter from the California State Tax Franchise. The letter stated that I owed in excess of $6,000 for the tax years of 2000, and 2001.

I did not live in CA in those years. So, I called them. I was on hold for an hour and 58 minutes. When I finally reached a human, I was told that I held a license in Speech Pathology and that I lived in Inglewood. Um... No.

The representative was not kind and she basically gave me until April 8th to pay the money. I laughed.

I called my Provider Law Firm here in Oregon who had me fax over the docs. They reviewed them and forwarded them to the CA Provider Law Firm. The CA law firm had me fill in and sign a form stating I am a victim of Identity theft.

They then contacted the tax board on my behalf and the subject of the$6,000 has been resolved.

The peace of mind of not having to deal with that issue myself is priceless.”
