A bit of a change of pace… thanks to all the love and support for c&c but a new chapter in my guiding career has come with great opportunity. This year I will be guiding for the Hayward Fly Fishing Company. Don’t worry, I haven’t gone anywhere, and you still can get on the books with me, just call the fly shop.

Moving forward, I may or may not keep c&c as a page for my photography still from my guiding and other avenues. But if you’d like to see all the shenanigans and fishy stuff, you can head over to my personal FB page, or even better yet, follow me on Instagram.

It’s with great excitement that we announce the newest member of the HFFC guide team - Erik Thue! To call Erik a “new guide” would be untrue. He’s been guiding waters of the Hayward area for the better part of a decade, and knows them well. He’s been a strong supporter of the local fly fishing community and local conservation/advocacy efforts and we know he’s going to fit right in and provide our clients with the sort of excellent fishing experience they’ve come to expect from HFFC over many years. Welcome aboard, Erik!

What an awesome weekend put on by TeleFest! Mad props for all the hard work that goes into this fun filled weekend!!! This was our first Tele-fest and won’t be our last. Truly amazing to get together with a bunch of great folks, some familiar, some new, but all enjoy the same turn. #2024

And so it begins! David and his crew came up north to find some good ice and some good times! Lots of panfish action, plenty of tip-up-flags to go around, and a whole lotta laughs. Currently seeing as much as 5-6” otherwise less(*some lakes with open water and some lakes with only 2-3.5” of ice in the surrounding Hayward area). We are currently only doing walk out trips, no machines on the ice yet. If you’re headed to the lake this weekend, keep safety in mind, spud bars, ice picks and a “early ice mentality”. Be safe out there! If you’re looking to get on the ice this season we are shaping up in ice conditions daily. Give C&C a ring or message about available dates.

Hope everyone has kicked off the New Year with a blast! We’re ringing in the new year of 2024 with some better ice conditions… not all lakes are equal though! Here in the Hayward Area a number of our lakes has decent ice, anything smaller than 1,000acres. Don’t forget to take a spud bar, ice picks and heck even a friend; be safe and be smart about where you plan to ice fish. If your itching to get out on some solid ice, chase some flags, jig for panfish, C&C has some open dates to get on the ice this 2024! Give me a call or drop me a message to inquire. #2024

We pulled into our driveway and leaning up against the entry door was a ski bag and box dropped off by fedex. gave me the “you ordered another set of Tele-skis” kinda look… well Santa came a little early. After Meg had mentioned she was Tele-curious, I stumbled on a kit of tele boots, k2 she’s piste skis, travel bag and boot bag for the right price for a starter kit. I’m unbelievably stoked to share my passions with and I look forward to laughter, slipping on snow, a chair lift companion, and to enjoy the turn with my love, my best friend.

Back to our regular scheduling… after a warm spell, some rain and then a refreeze was just what the doctor ordered. Still many of our Hayward Area Lakes vary on ice thickness, yet some of our haunts have ice thickness around 6-8”. Know before you go, keep a first ice mentality, have your spud bar, ice picks, and cleats. Dates on getting out for your ice fishing experience are open, and be certain to inquire.

Opening Weekend Sunday-Funday at ! Amazing to see all the hard work that there crew put in and to have an outstanding opening weekend. Got a few turns in on the skinny skis, which was humbling, and let the Protector 105s eat. If you’re in the Wi area n’ beyond and looking to try telemark skiing, Christie Mtn has a great tele-fleet to rent for the day and even lessons!
