Many w**eries spend a lot of time telling you about how they spend a lot of money on new barrels. 60% new, blablabla. That’s cool—new barrels are great and we like em too (we only need a handful every year for the way we do things).

We love to make the most of things, and that means using barrels until they get weird on us, leak beyond repair (but most of the time a couple spiles will get us back in biz), or they cavitate after getting steamed. It’s one of the ways that our sentimental style reflects in our work.

Most barrels nowadays come with the vintage they were coopered marked on the barrel, but back in the day lots of places did it by hand. Many of our oldest barrels were second hand after two fills at their first home. But the 90-something number you see on these barrels is their first vintage. We’ve got a handful of 93 and 94 but a ton more late 90s. Some of these have been in our cellar for almost 3/4 of our w**emaking history. Legends.

Looks like beautiful weather for this long weekend—swing by for a taste with us (walk-ins welcome!). We’ll be pouring this 2019 Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from one of our favorite vineyards—a perfect pairing for the grill.

We will be open all three days this weekend at 10:30, last tastings start at 4:00. Come see us!

The 107th shipment of our w**e club, The Tribe, released last week! We’re just as surprised as you are that all three labels in this shipment match, but they bring the same level of interesting variety that we deliver every time. Three AVAs, four varieties, one more traditional and a couple leaning more forward. We’re always pushing to keep things fresh while upholding the traditions we love. We're very sorry to share that Charlie Meeker has passed away. His love for w**e and our community was unparalleled—and we're so grateful for the thousands of folks who have enriched our family's lives. We plan to host a celebration of Charlie's life in the fall or when it's safe for us all to gather.

As per Governor Newsom’s guidance in his today’s press conference, we will be closing our Tasting Room to visitors effective immediately, as of this post (2:25 PM, 3/15/20). We will continue w**ery operations and operations for online, telephone, and email ordering, processing, and shipping.
