As we enter the longest night of the year, I wanted to share with everyone, two poems (and a lovely photo of our festive wine cave).

When I was 13, I wrote a Christmas poem for my parents that they loved, that gets displayed every Christmas season since. This year, 30 years later, I wrote a new Christmas poem for them.
I'm excited to share them both with you

Winter holidays are about bringing light into the darkness, they’re about connecting with one another, filling our homes and lives with warmth and comfort, and embodying peace and brotherhood.

Wishing everyone a peaceful solstice, happy holidays, and a merry Christmas

Fall is upon us!
This may be the most interesting time to visit Wine Country,
This is the most active part of a winemaker's year
Here at the Vineyard of Pasterick we strive to help enlighten our visitors about the whole winemaking process as well as sharing hands-on "show and tell" moments to help you understand how wine is made and what makes "wine magic" so special!

I (Alexis Pasterick) like to think of my family winery as one of the best "Unkept Secrets" in Dry Creek Valley.
A visit to my little family winery includes educational chats about how the vineyards work and how they grow, and a walk-through of the winemaking process
We want you to leave here feeling more knowledgeable about wine and how it's made, which we believe will deepen your appreciation of wine overall!

On Friday 9/13/24 we went to test sugars in the vineyard we source our award winning Cabernet Sauvignon.
It looks like we'll be bringing in this year's vintage sometime late next week!
It has been an intense harvest in (mostly) the best of ways!
We are so excited to see how this year's vintage expresses itself!

On Thursday, 9/12/24 we processed three tons of some beautiful Mourvèdre from northern Dry Creek Valley.

We have been making Mourvèdre since 2022. The varietal is believed to have originated in Spain, where it is known as Mataro or Monastrell). The French have made a name for this type of grape/wine as Mourvèdre although it's often better known as a "blender" as its characteristics add some delicious attributes to blended wines.

We are so excited to see what this vintage has in store for us

Harvested on the night of 9/10/24 and crushed the next morning, here's a glimpse at what happens at Crush; the grapes are bucket loaded into the crusher/destemmer, where the grapes are separated from the stems and lightly squashed into "must" (the term for the grape soup we turn into wine)
The must is pumped into our fermentation tanks, where we will add yeast and turn it into our award winning Syrah!

After racking the 2021 Syrah, it was time to bottle it!
We have our own small but mighty bottling line, and set it up on the morning of 9/9/24. We had a great crew, also small but mighty, and bottled 210 cases of Syrah.
The day was challenging and long, but we rose to the occasion!
With the 2021 Syrah bottled and moved to our barn warehouse for labeling over the winter, we now had room and barrel space in the wine cave for this incoming vintage! What a week!

Just before we began this year's harvest, we bottled our 2021 Estate Syrah.
These are photos from earlier this week (9/8/24) of the "racking" process. Simply put, it's the process of moving wine from one vessel to another.
Here we're moving the Syrah from our French Oak barrels into the tanks, where we attach our bottle filler, and set up the bottling line.
Our Estate Syrah is barrel aged in French Oak for 3 years, bottled, and bottle aged for another year before release to the wine club. We will release this wine in 2025!

Harvesting Syrah tonight! Picking the Red Hill
They're picking under a starry sky, The Big Dipper constellation is prominent to the north above the vines and workers
We will be crushing the grapes bright and early, and are excited to see how the 2024 vintage will express itself!

Here we go!
Harvest 2024 has officially commenced, arriving a bit earlier than we thought.
We brought in some Mourvèdre from the northern end of Dry Creek Valley, to be processed for our delicious GSM Field Blend Rosé!
Winery kitty, Thomas Jefferson II (Tommy) was there to help supervise the proceedings.
The fruit is juicy and delicious, was whole cluster pressed and will be transferred into French Oak barrels to barrel ferment!
We're so excited to see how the wine expresses itself!
