🍂As the leaves begin to turn, it’s a good reminder that some needs don’t follow the seasons.

A Life Care Plan brings together anticipated medical care, therapy, equipment, home modifications, personal assistance, and associated costs in one comprehensive document.

For attorneys on either side, it offers a clear, medically supported picture of what an individual may need - not just in the near future, but over a lifetime.

Working on a case involving serious injury or long-term care needs? Let’s bring the full picture into focus.

🍂Last week, I went on a short hike, and everything was still beautifully green. Before long, fall will arrive, and those same surroundings will turn golden.

The changing season is beautiful, but it can also bring new safety concerns. Wet leaves, uneven walkways, reduced daylight, and cooler weather may make mobility more difficult, especially for someone living with a serious injury or disability.

• Helpful home safety measures may include:

• Clearing leaves from walkways

• Improving lighting near entrances and stairs

• Installing ramps, railings, or grab bars

• Allowing enough space for mobility equipment

• Evaluating bathrooms and bedrooms for accessibility

When supported by medical records and documented functional limitations, these needs may become part of a Life Care Plan.

A Life Care Planner evaluates future needs such as home modifications, equipment, and personal assistance, and clearly lays out the anticipated costs.

If your case involves long-term medical or accessibility needs, let’s talk.

A little motivation for our legal community:

“It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.” Theodore Roosevelt

The legal profession comes with challenges, uncertainty, long days, and moments when the path forward isn't always clear. But every challenge is also an opportunity to learn, grow, and keep moving toward something better.

💭 Question for our legal community:
What is one challenge you’re facing right now that you’re choosing to keep showing up for?

Sometimes progress isn't about having all the answers; it’s about having the courage to keep going.

Back-to-school sports injuries may involve more than the initial diagnosis.

A sports injury can last long after the season ends.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Jalon Walker’s recently tore his ACL. If you’ve followed football long enough, you know that an injury such as that often requires surgery, months of rehabilitation, follow-up care, before an athlete can fully return to function.

Cases like this usually don't call for a full life care plan - that tool is built for lifelong, catastrophic needs. What they do call for is a medical cost projection: a clear, medical-record-based estimate of what treatment, rehab, and follow-up care will actually cost, so legal teams can evaluate damages with confidence.

With more than 30 years of clinical experience, I help plaintiff and defense teams put numbers to the medical impact of injuries -whether a case calls for a short-term cost projection or a full life care plan.

Life Care Plan or Medical Cost Projection, which one does your case need?

The terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but they serve different purposes.

In this short video, I explain the key differences and when each may be the right fit.

August is often where motivation gets tested. Deadlines pile up, calendars stay full, and the finish line can still feel far away.

☀️ The full impact of a summer injury may not be clear at first!

A teenager falls from a dock in July. The emergency department records note a laceration, sutures, and discharge instructions. Case closed, right?

Not necessarily.

Six months later, physical therapy records may reveal a more complex medical course: nerve involvement that became apparent after the swelling subsided, a specialist referral noted during follow-up, and a functional limitation that may affect future treatment—and the evaluation of damage, for years.

This pattern can occur after many summer injuries, including boating and swimming accidents, recreational falls, and heat-related illness. The emergency department record captures the immediate care, but it may not reflect how the injury develops over time.

Therapy records, specialist evaluations, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits can provide a more complete picture of the patient’s recovery and ongoing needs.

That information matters whether counsel is presenting a claim or evaluating one. Plaintiff’s counsel may use it to establish the supported scope of damages. Defense counsel may use it to determine whether the claimed limitations are consistent with the documented medical course.

Either way, a thorough record review can help both sides better understand the medical facts.

If you have an injury file that could benefit from a second set of eyes, or a comprehensive medical review, let’s talk.

Schedule a consultation to discuss how this kind of review can support your case.

Summer sports are definitely having a moment, and one activity that continues to grow in popularity is pickleball.

I play pickleball myself, so I understand why so many people enjoy it. It is social, competitive, and a great way to stay active at any age.

But the game can change quickly. One sudden pivot, awkward landing, or fall may result in a fracture, head injury, or serious damage to the knee or shoulder.

While many players recover with short-term treatment, some injuries may involve surgery, extended therapy, repeat imaging, injections, medical equipment, or ongoing care.

That is where my work comes in.

Through medical record review, medical cost projections, and life care planning, I help attorneys get a clear picture of what the records show today, what an injury may reasonably require moving forward, and how those anticipated needs contribute to the evaluation of medical damages.

The final point may end the match, but the impact of an injury can continue long after everyone leaves the court.
