The Lewis & Clark Library’s Helena Location seeks a part-time Library Associate. The Library is a hub of cultural, recreational and educational activity. The first free public Library in Montana Territory, Lewis & Clark Library has strong roots and wide-spreading branches, including Augusta, East Helena, Lincoln, and a Bookmobile, plus a book bike. The Library’s culture is innovative, smart, and slightly obsessive about the role high-quality Library service plays in our community and the world.

The part-time Library Associate position performs a variety of technical, paraprofessional and customer service-related duties in support of various departments or functions of the library.

Library Associate duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist patrons in-person and via the telephone; check out and renew materials, explain and enforce policies and procedures, provide information about library services and operations, answer patron questions, problem solve issues.
• Process returned materials; handle materials returned with missing pieces or damage.
• Assist with preparing, promoting and presenting library programs for all ages.
• Process incoming and outgoing hold requests; reconcile daily hold reports.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment including telephones, computers, printers, copier, cash register, and instruct patrons in use of library equipment.
• Perform tasks related to day-to-day operations of the library: open and close library building, monitor patron use of equipment, materials, and facility, respond to safety and security issues, perform light cleaning as needed.
• Act as person-in-charge as assigned; oversee opening and closing of library including cash register, assist with patron issues and complaints, troubleshoot facility and equipment problems, respond to emergency situations.

The position requires effective communication skills and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must also have strong abilities to plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities and work independently as well as with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The education and experience considered necessary to perform these duties and responsibilities is typically acquired by:
• Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school; some college/university preferred.


• Experience:
One year of experience in library work, general clerical work, or in a closely related field.
Or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
SALARY: Starting at $21.01 per hour, with step increases to follow.
BENEFITS: LCL offers a competitive benefits package that is prorated for part-time staff, and includes medical, dental and vision coverage to employees and qualified dependents as well as a State sponsored retirement plan, access to supplemental insurance and a 457b plan. In addition, LCL provides vacation, sick leave and paid holidays.
HOURS PER WEEK: 20, including some weekend and evening shifts

At Communication and Management Services (CMS), we provide specialized consulting services committed to strengthening organizations through effective human resource management, management collaboration, association management, and compensation and classification systems.

The HR Support Specialist position is a great opportunity to become part of a dynamic team, contributing to various projects supporting CMS’s mission and goals. The position aligns and coordinates organizational recruitment efforts, association management, office administration, social media, and project support. Specific skills required for this position include attention to detail including editing and proofreading; researching, compiling, and computing statistical data; customer service focused on relationship building; and taking detailed meeting minutes. Our office hours are Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm, this position offers the flexibility to choose which set schedule will best serve both the employee and employer, and the majority of work will be conducted on site, at CMS’ office. Occasional, regularly-scheduled support for clients after hours may occur, for example to take minutes at a monthly board meeting.

Education and Experience:
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to some post-secondary education and/or experience in business, human resources, or related field.

Compensation:

If you have a passion for serving Veterans, consider becoming a Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) Veterans Outreach Case Manager in Browning, Montana. GPVSC provides great benefits to employees, a flexible work/life balance and is dedicated to those who have served our country and their families.

Great Plains Veterans Services Center is a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation in North Central Montana. The Veteran Support Service (VSS) program was established to provide Veterans with access to all VA benefits they have earned; assists unemployed Veterans to become self-sufficient by transitioning them into the workforce; supports homeless Veterans or at-risk for homeless Veterans in attaining and maintaining housing; provides mental health and su***de prevention support and provides case management. In 2014, GPVSC began operating its Veterans Transportation Services (VTS) program which provides transportation services to rural Montana Veterans for VA and VA-referred appointments. Between the VSS and VTS, GPVSC serves 28 counties which includes 6 Indian Reservations.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Veterans Outreach Case Manager is part of the Veterans Support Services program, including the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Su***de Prevention Grant Program (SFSPGP). The incumbent provides outreach to Veterans, conducts data collection on services needed by individual Veterans and family members, coordinates services and resources to Veterans to ensure their overall well-being is satisfactory and sufficient to build and maintain a quality lifestyle. The individual works in a manner which supports the mission of GPVSC, to ensure daily operations, procedures and standards are maintained in accordance with federal, tribal, and state laws and regulations.

This position will be responsible for many duties, including but not limited to:
• Conducting needs assessments for Veterans by making home visits and networking with Veterans throughout the community. Needs assessments include interviewing to identify challenges, barriers, and successes to establish a quality life, stable home, employment and/or education enrollment for Veterans.
• Manage the follow-up of developed work plans to ensure Veterans are receiving necessary services.
• Serve as an advocate for Veterans by helping them obtain all necessary military documentation and records needed for Veteran benefits and claims.
• Provide information to tribal and local service providers about VA benefits in order to create a collaborative effort to help Veterans and their families.
• Maintain office filing and record-keeping systems; enter, edit, and retrieve Veteran military and benefit records.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
• Computer literacy, in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor in the event of difficult interactions.
• Ability to display non-judgmental and empathetic listening skills.
• High degree of detail-oriented skill level.
• Knowledge and understanding of the importance of adhering to confidentiality standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive work environment.
• Skill in establishing rapport and working to build and maintain effective working relationships with Veterans, staff, and community agency representatives.
• Ability to perform job duties with integrity and innovation to ensure completion and a high level of quality.
• Ability to understand and adhere to required administrative policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills to ensure efficiencies and quality customer service with people from varied backgrounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Three years of experience providing social services outreach or other directly related work.
• Preferred: Formal education in social work, sociology, psychology or other directly related field.
Any combination of experience and training which provide the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

The Great Plains Veterans Services Center may provide a training assignment for chosen candidates who do not meet minimum qualifications. Employees in training assignments may be paid a lower starting wage. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING CONDITIONS
• Must be able to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
• Day travel is required to go to where the Veterans are.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Must hold a valid Montana driver's license and successfully complete a driver's history check.
• Successful applicants are subject to drug testing, and criminal history checks.
