Hemet and the San Jacinto Valley was once a was the vacation ground in the 1900's for many Hollywood movie stars. Hemet was known for a very popular retirement and at one point around 25-30 years ago it was said that Hemet Banks which ran along Florida Ave had more money then Wall Street. The housing boom in the early to mid 2000's had family moving because of a great city to raise families. Then

the recession hit and housing boom came to a halt. The economy took a hard hit and affected Hemet worse than other cities in Riverside County. Crime and homelessness has taken over our city and those who live here are tired of living in fear. Because if this we have started "Hemet Gate Keepers" with the hope of the community joining forces with the city administration, the police department and public services, faith based groups, service organizations and local businesses.
