Originating in Las Vegas, Nacho Daddy is a Mexican-American restaurant and bar that has been featured on Food Network and the Travel Channel. Looking to establish a presence in the heart of the redeveloped Downtown Las Vegas Entertainment District, this playful, tongue in cheek brand hired RWA to bring their space to life.
RWA provided planning, architecture, and interior design services to create a vibrant dining experience within an aged, 7,000 square foot existing structure. With a low ceiling and minimal street presence, the original space was dark and uninviting. RWA’s transformative design cut through the roof to create a raised ceiling, with clerestory windows, above the bar at the center of the dining room. The front façade was replaced with wall-to-wall accordion fold glass doors which open to the patio dining area, allowing full engagement with the high volume of pedestrian traffic.
Seeking to capture attention in this walkable, tourist-centered location, the street-facing elevation features bold neon signage and a mix of materials. The structure is clad primarily in wood-look tile with a brick accent. A low, steel clad, planter wall with desert cacti separates the patio area from the sidewalk. Open or closed, the operable glass wall offers full visibility into the bustling dining area beyond.
The interior material palette is rustic and robust, with a nod to the original character of the building. The design features exposed CMU block and the original wood ceiling joists in some areas. Durable and long-lasting polished concrete flooring, exposed steel beams, and cold-rolled steel cladding impart and industrial sensibility. Wood furnishings and wall treatments, along with brick accents add warmth and balance the aesthetic.
