Let’s talk scorpions! 🦂
Nevada is home to three different species: bark scorpion, emperor scorpion and the desert hairy scorpion.
* Bark scorpions are the most venomous scorpion found here in Southern Nevada. Their bodies are sand-colored with black stripes down their backs. When temps are unfavorable outside, they seek shelter from the elements in temperature-controlled environments.
* Emperor scorpions are less common than bark scorpions and also not as dangerous. Identified by their black bodies, you’ll find these scorpions outside in hot, humid areas.
* Desert hairy scorpions are the least dangerous. They are tan or olive green in color, with hair on their tails. When inside homes, they will stay around cool, dark areas such as inside cabinets and attics.
