Great news from the other side of the trail!
BIG UPDATE on the Ecusta Trail.
This is me and NJ on July 18, 2025 riding the first six miles of the Ecusta Trail over in Henderson County on the day of its grand opening. It was a big day. Today is another big day. Today, at the Ecusta Trail Advisory Board meeting we discussed the design and cost estimate for the trail in Brevard & Transylvania County at the 65% design completion milestone.
It was our first updated look at whether the money we received as a federal grant several years ago (along with several other sources of local funding) would be enough to pay for the construction of the trail next year.
And the GREAT NEWS is...we have the money to complete the Ecusta Trail for Brevard in Transylvania County.
There is, of course, more work to do. Final design will be complete around the beginning of 2027. The project will begin construction during the summer of 2027 and is scheduled to take 18-24 months to complete. But there is no doubt anymore - this trail will be built.
