September 11 has always been a very personal and emotional day for me.
I had friends who lost a father in the towers. My own dad was working across the water in Newark, NJ, and watched the second plane hit. I was living in New Jersey at the time, and I’ll never forget the feeling of that day.
Today, September 11, I found myself in a very unexpected but incredibly meaningful situation.
I was helping a client organize her home. She is a flight attendant, and her husband was a pilot who was flying toward LaGuardia on 9/11. As we worked, the news was on in the background, and they began reading the names of those who lost their lives.
We both teared up.
And there we were—sorting, organizing, and sharing stories while each name was read.
It was one of those moments that reminded me that being a professional organizer is about so much more than just stuff. People invite me into their homes, but they also share pieces of their lives with me. Their memories, their families, their stories, their losses, and sometimes the things that are incredibly difficult to talk about.
I am so grateful for the trust my clients place in me and for the stories they allow me to hear along the way. ❤️
