On September 12th, the city held a Time Capsule Event. At the event, a Time Capsule, placed near the fountain in the front of the City Building during America's Bicentennial celebration in 1976, was opened and the contents were displayed.

The Time Capsule opening marked the 50th Anniversary of ""Hermitage"" as the name for the city. Items for a new time capsule, to be opened in 2076, were collected from the city, Hermitage School District, Hermitage Historical Society, Hermitage Rotary Club, Hermitage Police Department and Hermitage and Patagonia Volunteer Fire Departments.

Cameron Linton, President of the Hermitage Historical Society gave an oral history of Hermitage and Bob Miller, from the Hermitage Rotary Club spoke on the club's history.

Pictured at the event are Mark Longietti, Hermitage Director of Business and Community Development, Gary Hinkson, Hermitage City Manager, and Hermitage City Commissioners, Cameron Linton, Duane Piccirilli, Bill Moder, and Louis Squatrito.
