HVAS is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, hybrid volunteer agency in Middlesex County, just south of Middletown on the CT River.
We currently have a full-time career staff position available. Candidate must be an experienced EMT with the flexibility to cover some evening or weekend shifts in addition to the regular day-shift schedule. Friendly, community-oriented volunteer and career partners to work with, comfortable working conditions, uniforms, health insurance, PTO, and a CE program are provided.

HVAS would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Assistant Chief Joe Arabas for his generous donation of a comfy couch and chair to our station. We also acknowledge the kindness and generosity of of Middletown Rug Cleaning, and EMT Dan Kozman, who provided professional cleaning services for the furniture at no cost.

HVAS is truly grateful for our neighbors and local merchants who have contributed so much to our community spirit with their beautiful and patriotic red, white, and blue displays.
This holiday weekend, as you gather with family and friends to enjoy our freedoms please remember to prioritize safety: stay cool,celebrate responsibly, be mindful of children and pets when fireworks are nearby.

HVAS extends a warm welcome to the newly renovated Higganum Hometown Market!

The market looks great, aisles are clean and stocked, and it’s wonderful to see a family-owned business investing in our small town. As volunteers, we know how important community connections are, and we look forward to stopping in for a quick snack between calls, shopping for our families, and seeing these friendly smiling faces around town for years to come.
