I want to give a huge shout-out to Happy Beat Drumming students Kathy McNamara and Rebekah McLendon! They volunteered to jump in with Robin and me to help entertain guests at the 2026 Open Door Ministries Masquerade Gala & Auction, and we had such a great time!
I’m also incredibly grateful that Happy Beat Drumming was able to be a Caring Sponsor for this year’s event. Open Door Ministries means a lot to me personally, and I’m humbled to serve on the board of an organization that does so much for our community.
Just look at some of what ODM accomplished in 2025:
• 126,000+ hot, home-cooked meals served through Father’s Table
• 322 men housed, with 85% leaving with housing, employment, or both
• 9,300+ people provided a week of groceries and hygiene essentials
• 60 veterans housed through Arthur Cassell Memorial House, with 26 successfully graduating
• 226 people receiving rental or utility assistance
• 30 people housed through Permanent Supportive Housing
• Continued work through the Human Trafficking Resource Center connecting people with vital resources and raising awareness
Those numbers are incredible, but behind every one of them is a real person who needed a meal, a safe place to sleep, groceries for their family, help keeping the lights on, or simply someone willing to help them get back on their feet.
When you look at how many people Open Door Ministries serves every year, it’s hard not to ask: How can we not step up for an organization that steps up for so many of our neighbors?
I’m thankful Kathy and Rebekah were willing to share their talents to support such a worthy cause.
