ANOTHER COMMUNITY IMPACTED BY VIOLENCE
On Wednesday afternoon, gunfire erupted inside a high-rise apartment building in downtown Minneapolis. Two civilians were killed, several others were wounded, and responding police officers came under fire while moving toward the threat, rescuing victims, and evacuating residents. Two officers suffered gunshot wounds, and additional first responders were injured or affected during the response.
The suspected shooter also died at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the motive, the circumstances leading to the attack, and whether earlier warning signs played a role.
This incident is another difficult reminder that violence can unfold rapidly in the places where people live, work, worship, and gather. Apartment communities and other residential properties must be included in conversations about emergency planning, threat reporting, access control, communication, and coordinated response.
Plans cannot exist only on paper. Residents and employees must know how to report concerning behavior, where to seek protection, how to communicate during an emergency, and what actions to take when every second matters.
A SAFE KNIGHT, INC. extends our prayers and deepest condolences to the families of those who were killed, those who were wounded, the officers and first responders involved, and every resident whose sense of safety was shattered by this violence.
We do not want you scared. We want you prepared.
A SAFE KNIGHT, INC.
