Before the walls close up, here's what we're checking.

Sheetrock is coming soon on this nearly 6,000 square foot new-construction home on Long Island, which makes right now one of the most important moments in the whole project.

Even the spaces between destinations deserve a design moment. This NYC elevator hallway brings character and polish to an often-overlooked part of the home, proving that thoughtful design doesn’t stop at the front door.

Board and batten takes this staircase from simple to seriously dramatic. A classic architectural detail that adds depth, character, and just the right amount of wow. ✨

Fireplace season has begun in NY! 🔥🍂

The temperatures are dropping, and there's nothing like gathering around the fire on a crisp fall night. Here are a few of our favorite fireplaces we've designed over the years, from sleek marble and stone to farmhouse brick and see-through modern. Do you have a favorite?

This home in the Upper West Side NYC has been a labor of love, and seeing the transformation come together is one of our favorite parts of the design process.

There was one question that saved our NYC co-op client time, money, and a delayed start.

During the review of this Upper West Side renovation, we were told a DOB filing was required. But after digging into the scope, we discovered it came down to one wall we planned to partially remove for a new closet. So, we redesigned the closet, kept the wall, and avoided the filing altogether. Same function, fewer headaches, and the project could start sooner!

Swipe to see where we started and where we are now. 🤍

Behind the scenes of picture installation day! 🖼️

It’s one thing to see the design come together on paper, but watching the artwork go up and seeing everything start to feel finished is the best part.

A few measurements, a lot of patience, and plenty of little details later… we’re getting there!

Every farmhouse needs a spot like this.

For this boys bedroom, we wrapped this little nook in reclaimed wood and let the light from the window & treetop views do the rest. It's proof that even a small corner, designed with intention, can become the favorite spot in the house!
Would you curl up here with a book or a nap?

💙 Welcome back, Liz! 💙

We’re so happy to have our Design Assistant, Liz, back in the Studio D office after maternity leave! Now as a mom to a beautiful baby boy!

We missed having her creativity and talent around the studio, and we’re so excited to have her back as we head into a busy season of projects & installations.

Please join us in welcoming Liz back, and congratulating her on the sweetest new addition to her family! 💙

We’re so excited to share a little progress from this nearly 6,000 SF Long Island home we’ve been working on as construction moves ahead!

The exterior is complete and looking mostly like our original design! (Swipe to see the rendering), The interior framing is finished, and we’ve been busy reviewing the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC placements, making tweaks where construction has (inevitably!) evolved from the original plans. That’s all part of the process!
Next up: sheetrock in just a few weeks!

In the meantime, we’re always working to stay one step ahead of construction. We’re taking advantage of this window to make sure the next round of decisions is ready before the contractor needs them.

There’s still a long way to go, but this is one of those exciting stages where the house is really starting to take shape. Can’t wait to keep sharing the progress!
