It's an ownership problem. Specifically, the habit of centralizing decisions, knowledge, and approval in one person.

Promotion is not preparation.

When high performers move into management roles without leadership training, the cost is rarely visible all at once. It accumulates. It shows up in team friction, slower decisions, and a manager who's overwhelmed but doesn't know how to say so.

Work is a big part of life—especially when you love what you do.

I enjoy building a business, coaching others, and doing work that matters.

I’ve REALLY enjoyed diving deep into the world of AI over the last 6 months.

It doesn’t seem like work at all to start redesigning our business for the future, and to start think about how we can help others do the same using AI-enabled workflows and systems.

But here’s something else I’ve learned:
When work is fulfilling, it can easily take over.

That’s why I use a tool called the 5 Gears.
It helps me stay intentional about how I use my time, both at work and at home.

As we head into summer, take some PTO. Get outside. Shift into 1st Gear or 2nd Gear with someone who means a lot to you.

Take a hike, enjoy a concert, lie on the beach—whatever helps you recharge.

I plan to. Because when I shift back out of 1st Gear, I’m better equipped mentally and emotionally to be the best “me” for those around me.
