Key Process Partners

helps businesses nationwide to systemize their operations in a way that allows the business to grow and scale without cumbersome or outdated processes getting in the way. To get started KPP offers a free initial consultation, learning your business and your pain points, and offering solutions in the form of deliverable services that will make your business operate seamlessly and reduce your stress level. A fixed-fee proposal is then presented for your review and all parties decide together what the best next steps are for your business. Key Process Partners works with clients throughout the United States. There are no required minimums with regards to revenue size or number of employees, but a typical client is looking for at least at a three-month engagement–which includes a roadmap of services and deliverables that would be provided, and timelines for implementation and ex*****on. What does it mean to be an “A” Player? I recently finished a book called Topgrading. This is a hiring methodology that many companies use because it’s extremely thorough and has a high success rate (according to the book). I have incorporated some of the elements into my hiring process as well.

As I was reading the book, I noticed they used “A” Player terminology quite often. But what does it mean to be an “A” player? Is an “A” player at one company always an “A” player at another company? Topgrading would have you believe YES. But I’m not convinced. I think an “A” player is whatever you define it to be based on the expectations of the job you’re hiring for, and your “A” player may be another company’s “B” or “C” Player (and vice versa).

But how can you recruit and retain those “A” players?

Join us on Tuesday, April 9 at 1pm Eastern time to hear how we implemented changes into our processes to attract and retain “A” players, including having a candidate-centric process that makes your organization look WAY better than other employers.

Today’s post is about RECRUITING TRAPS!

Have you ever hired the wrong person? When you look back on what happened, it’s likely that one or more of the following things might have happened to you:
-You assumed that a candidate’s previous job experience was transferable to the job you hired them to do—but it wasn’t. Oops.
-You believed that because the candidate seemed really smart, they would be able to do the job! But general intelligence doesn’t always translate to other skills/traits such as emotional intelligence, customer service/empathy, teamwork and collaboration, etc. and being especially smart isn’t enough to be successful in some jobs.
-You really connected with the candidate on a deeper level and were excited to work with them!! But you realized after the fact that being your new lunch buddy isn’t the only thing that makes them a good fit for the job or not.
-You didn’t communicate the expectations of the job well enough and the new hire wasn’t able to meet the unspoken expectations.
-Rather than post the job, you hired someone you know or worked with previously even though they didn’t have all the skills needed, because “the devil you know” is better than the one you don’t.

Join us on Tuesday, April 9 at 1pm Eastern time where will share how you can avoid these (and other) recruiting traps through good communication, setting expectations, etc. and revamping your hiring processes to maximize your hiring success rate!

One of my pet peeves is vague job postings. If you’ve ever applied for a job, I’m sure you’ve seen it too. Employers do their best to put together an attractive job posting but it can be difficult for candidates reading the job posting to know whether the job will be a good fit for them.

Candidates want to know things like:
-What’s the schedule? What time am I expected to arrive each day?
-How many hours a week of work is expected?
-Is there ever a requirement to work evenings or weekends?
-How many employees does the company have, is it a large or small organization?
-Will I be the only person in this position or part of a team?
-Are there any metrics or KPIs I’ll be held accountable to achieve?
-Who will I be reporting to and what is their title/role in the organization?
-What’s the company culture like?
-What are the company’s core values?

Join us on Tuesday, April 9 at 1pm Eastern time for a FREE webinar that will cover this topic – how to write an attractive job posting that communicates what CANDIDATES want to know about the job—and other ways you can share that information with them in addition to the job posting.

There are many challenges when it comes to hiring new employees for your organization. Here are some that I’ve had in the past 10+ years of management:

-Scheduling a candidate for a one-hour in-person interview just to realize in 2 minutes or less that it’s not going to be a fit
-Having a candidate get through all the steps in the hiring process (multiple interviews, reference checks, etc.) just to have the candidate back out at the last minute after they realize their doctor doesn’t take our insurance and that’s a dealbreaker for them
-Having a new hire quit in their first week because they weren’t aware they would have to work outside even when it’s raining
-Having too many applicants and no way to effectively screen large quantities of candidates quickly
-Forgetting to communicate to your new hire that the job requires occasional travel--and learning they’re terrified of airplanes

After making these mistakes (and more!) I revamped my hiring processes to be WAY more efficient in how I screen applicants, what I communicate to them and when, what questions I ask, etc.

Sign up for our FREE webinar where I will share these ideas with you for you to incorporate in your hiring process! Join us on Tuesday, April 9 at 1pm Eastern time (10am Pacific time).

I had my FIRST event today as a vendor— Booth official and everything!

My company Key Process Partners is a member of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and they had their annual Cyber Conference today.

A few weeks ago I got inspired to sign up as an exhibitor after I printed my first-ever brochures (about my Accounting services). I quickly got Coaching services brochures and Hiring services brochures ready to go as well, and ordered cookies from Nina's Cookies Explosion to hand out 🙂 they were a hit!

When I was at High Starr Copy Services getting the brochures printed I saw the tabletop displays and ordered some of those too, which were perfect. Thank you to my designer Meredith Starr Daley for creating all my marketing materials 💜
