Parent Care Management Services, Inc. To do this, we consult with family members, current caregivers, physicians, and other professionals.

Parent Care Management Services (PCMS) Is a full service care management company dedicated to solving the elderly and disabled population's healthcare challenges. At the start of our term of service with a client, we conduct a full assessment of the individual, including physical, social, psychological parameters and also his/her ability to perform activities of daily living. We then prepare a report, reviewing our findings and making recommendations for care provisions, options and costs. Clients may then choose whether they would carry out the recommendations or hire our staff to coordinate ongoing services. We provide continuity and consistency of services to assist with in-home care or placement, as necessary. We coordinate appropriate services and monitor their effectiveness for your loved one. We work to avoid potential problems and conserve financial resources. Services include:
• Screening, setting up, training, coordinating, and monitoring competent in-home help
• Designing personalized care plans and records/logs to ensure compliance with care plan
• On-going assessment of physical and mental health by periodic home or facility visits; regular phone calls for reassurance and problem resolution.
• Crisis management and early intervention to minimize deleterious effects

Pam Bergman-Schwartz from Elevate Senior Specialists real estate presented prize to Luis Gonzalez, Executive Director of Sunlit Gardens. These meetings are a valuable source of information exchange!

Here is a room full of Western Region Care Managers, all committed to learning and growing stronger in their knowledge to better serve the clients and families who count on us!
Day three's first session focused on traumatic brain injury and expanded the care manager's understanding of the condition. This information added valuable tools to their care management toolbox. When colleagues learn together, they grow together! Parent Care's Certified Dementia Practitioner, Sheila Umeda, MSW, was deep in learning during today’s session on Lewy Body Dementia, one of the lesser-known and often challenging dementias to recognize and diagnose.🧠📚
Sherene Brouwer, RN, said of the sessions, "Continuing to expand our knowledge so we can better recognize the complexities of dementia and provide thoughtful, informed support to the clients and families we serve."

The ALCA Western Region Conference Business Meeting was held yesterday, October 1st. Carol Heape, owner of one of the oldest Care Management organizations, was awarded the BJ Spitler Award, which is given to a member who is outstanding not only in the profession but also in serving the community. Her daughter, Liz Heape-Caldwell, has been the WR President this past year and led the meeting.
Parent Care had three staff members attend this conference: Carolyn Michaelis-Moe, Founder, Sherene Brouwer, BSN, Clinical Coordinator, and Sheila Umeda, MSW, Lead Social Worker. They all benefited by hearing presentations about Long Term Care Insurance and how to make it work for our clients, Movement as Medicine, Family Conflict and Mediation, and other topics relevant to care management.
Over 25 exhibitors demonstrated their services, which will enhance PCMS's ability to serve our clients' needs.

The activities of the ALCA WR Conference started before the first day!
Carolyn Michaelis-Moe, Founder of Parent Care Management Services, attended the Board Meeting of the ALCA Western Region Chapter. Their Day Zero meeting, led by Liz Heape-Caldwell, outgoing President and Janai Quintana, incoming President, preceded the annual WR Conference. The conference was held in Lake Tahoe this year. Board attendees included Julie Wagner, CEO of ALCA and Nina Plumm-Herndon, the President of our national association. The board's efforts resulted in over 30 first-time attendees, coming from as far away as Rochester, NY! They were also able to attract over 30 sponsors and vendors to the Caesars Republic Resort, providing attendees with not only a wonderful program, but also access to many resources to bring back to the senior communities they serve.

🏔️📚A little change of scenery with a whole lot of professional growth!

Sherene Brouwer, RN, and Sheila Umeda, MSW, spent their first day at the ALCA Western Regional Conference learning about elderly care, connecting with colleagues, and exploring new resources to help support the older adults and families we serve. From educational sessions to visiting exhibitors and exchanging ideas, they’re bringing valuable information and resources back to our team.
We’re proud to have them representing Parent Care Management Services at the ALCA Western Regional Conference in South Lake Tahoe!

Carolyn Michaelis-Moe, RN, Owner of Parent Care Management Services was one of the sponsors of the San Bernardino County Bar Association Probate Symposium on 9/17 at the Doubletree-Hilton. Organized by the office of Sam Price, Esq., this yearly event provided MCLE credits featuring Valerie Peterson, JD, presenting information about the Use of AI in Elder Law. Judges Cortez, Mann, Garcia, Wilkerson, and Acker presented the State of the SB Probate Court.
The theme was The Roaring 20's and many people came dressed for the event! Kymberly Lewis and other members of CALDA (Ca Legal Document Assistants) had their own table, which they shared with Carolyn. The Social Hour gave many opportunities for connecting with other colleagues -
Rene Abraham, JD and Layne Bartholomew, JD, Judge Tara Reilly, Professional Fiduciaries Joanna and Jacob Averett, and Susan Ghormley, as well as many vendors and supporters. Many thanks to the staff at Sam's office for their work to make this an outstanding event!
