🗓️ MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT STARTS TOMORROW, OCTOBER 15!
You have through December 7, 2026, to review and change your Medicare health and drug coverage for January 1, 2027.
Don’t assume this year’s plan will meet next year’s needs.
CMS projects the average Medicare Advantage plan premium will fall to $12 a month in 2027. But an average tells you nothing about YOUR doctors, YOUR prescriptions, or YOUR total costs.
Some states will have fewer Medicare Advantage plans:
• Florida: 611 → 560
• Ohio: 212 → 180
• Illinois: 157 → 136
These are statewide totals—your choices depend on where you live.
💡 A $0 plan premium does not mean $0 healthcare costs. Medicare Advantage members must also maintain Part B coverage and its premium obligation.
💊 The annual out-of-pocket cap for covered Part D drugs rises from $2,100 in 2026 to $2,400 in 2027. This applies to stand-alone drug plans AND Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage. It is separate from medical cost limits.
Before December 7:
✅ Read your Annual Notice of Change. Review premiums, deductibles, copays and drug coverage. If you didn’t receive it, contact your plan.
✅ Confirm your doctors and hospitals with both the provider’s office and the plan.
✅ Enter every prescription and your preferred pharmacies into Medicare.gov’s Plan Finder. Check costs, restrictions and prior authorization requirements.
✅ Compare total costs. For Medicare Advantage, review the annual medical out-of-pocket limit. Original Medicare alone has no annual out-of-pocket ceiling for Part A and Part B services.
✅ Received a nonrenewal notice? Act now to arrange January coverage. Contract nonrenewal also provides a special enrollment period from December 8 through February 28, 2027.
