Aubaine Pinot Noir, taking in the view from a rocky ledge with a whole valley spread out behind it. Cloudy skies, mountains for miles, and one bottle that clearly knows how to pick a vantage point. We’d say it earned a pour.

B**r belongs in the chili. W**e belongs in the glass. Some rules shouldn’t be broken.

Full disclosure: most of a can went into our pot, plus some carrots for heartiness. Your own recipe works just as well. Load up the toppings and settle in for the game or a rainy-night movie.

Meet one of our favorites.

Aubaine W**e is a high-end boutique project out of Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills, built on a very French idea: aubaine means “windfall,” an unexpected gift, not something you manufacture.

Founder Andy Lytle (yes, that Lytle, also half of sparkling label Lytle-Barnett) teamed up with Director of W**emaking Isabelle Meunier, a Quebec native who trained and worked in Burgundy and New Zealand, before landing in the Willamette Valley for good. 

Together, they make these w**es extremely well: single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We proudly carry the 2019 Chardonnay and the 2019 Pinot Noir, both certified Rising Stars around here (93 and 92 points, for those keeping score). Two w**es, one philosophy.

This bottle of Fortuity “The Fifty Fifty” wedged itself into a fallen tree somewhere between Glacier and Yellowstone, we’ve lost track of which, honestly, but it clearly found its spot. Even our w**e has better instincts for a photo op than we do.

September’s creeping in, but we’re not letting go of summer that easily. 

Sandra, our Head of W**ery Relations, pulled together the bottles to get us through these last warm weeks: a crisp white, a chilled sparkling, and one red that says fall can wait.

Why does Sandra know what’s perfect for right now? Because Sandra has tried and blessed every bottle that lands in your glass. She doesn’t pick a bottle unless she’s tasted it, loved it, and thought of you. That’s the whole job.

The perfect afternoon.

Back at it in July. Another blind tasting for the curious w**e drinker, another round of “wait, is this a Syrah?”

Guests worked through a lineup from the craft w**emakers we proudly represent. Some guesses were spot on, some were... optimistic.

This one ended in a tie for most correct guesses, so we settled it the only fair way: closest number wins, 1 to 100.

Seattle Tech Week, in the books.

We poured at the media & storytelling happy hour hosted by Seattle Magazine and Seattle Business magazine at the beautiful and fun Coliseum of Art Exhibition. 

Founders, funders, and business leaders in the room talking about turning traction into visibility, then enjoying three great w**es from small Washington producers. Definitely a win-w**e evening.

Happy National W**e & Cheese Day! Today, we are celebrating the most iconic duo of all time. 

We’re sharing some of our favorite w**e and cheese pairings worth raising a glass to:

Chardonnay + Brie — buttery meets buttery. A classic for a reason.
Sauvignon Blanc + Goat Chèvre — bright, tangy, and totally refreshing.
Pinot Noir + Aged Gouda or Smoked Gouda — earthy, rich, and just chef’s kiss. Bonus points if you’re pairing with an Oregon Pinot and aged Oregon Cheddar. 
Syrah + Smoked Goat Cheese or Aged Spanish Manchego — bold, smoky, and a little dramatic. Just how we like it.
