The roots of this organization got us to where we are today, and those same roots will get us to where we're going in the future. We will never lose sight of our history and will use it to build a stronger foundation as we prepare for even more growth going forward.

My journey to Merchant's National Bank started years ago when I would visit Hillsboro with my grandma every Saturday. She would always tell me that this bank was different because here it's not about the chandeliers, the show, or title — it's about how they treat people. So when I had the chance to interview for CEO, there was no way I was going to pass it up.

Having the opportunity to lead this organization is something that I will never take for granted. I'm so honored to be part of the MNB story!

One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve ever received was this: the way to get to the next level is to make the people around you better.

Leadership isn’t about climbing over others. It’s about lifting them up.

Not everyone will have the same work ethic or level of effort — and that can be challenging. But in those moments, you keep showing up. You keep working hard. You set the tone.

Because when the people around you grow, everyone moves forward.

I believe the best banking will always be human-focused.

Technology will continue to evolve, and that’s important. But at its core, banking has never really been about transactions.

It’s about people. Conversations. Relationships built over time.

That human connection is what makes community banking special — and it’s something we’ll always hold onto.

Balancing work and leadership isn’t always easy for me.

I lead with a lot of passion and heart, and sometimes that makes it hard to turn things off. When you care deeply, it’s not something you just switch on and off at 5:00.

But I’ve learned that you have to create space to reset. To step away, even briefly. Because when you do, you come back clearer, steadier, and ready to hit the ground running again.

Leadership requires energy — and taking time to recharge is part of sustaining it.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be this: embrace the journey.

Not every step will make sense in the moment. There will be challenges, detours, and seasons of growth you didn’t plan for. But each one shapes you.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the lessons, the people, and even the hard moments. They prepared me for where I am today.

Trust the process. Keep showing up. And embrace the journey.
